Cofused by Helms
I have a 99 EX 4dr civic. i am looking at my helms and i am trying to figure out what steps to take to change my clutch. i dont see where it says to take the transmission cover off to get to everything. does anyone know what page numbers in the helms i can look at for that?
The money you spend on a clutch (especially if aftermarket) is a big chunk of the price of a swap (bseries). Then you could sell your singlecam and get some more money back.
$300 for a clutch or $3000 for a good B Series? I'm with you on the swap, I just think the math is a bit off.
As for doing the clutch, How does the helms show you pulling the tranny out? That's the procedure to follow. It's got to come completely out to do the job. You (at home anyway) typically have to disconnect the passenger side suspension too so you can pull the axels out.

You don't see where it says that because it doesn't. You don't take a "transmission cover" off to change a clutch, you have to remove the transmission from the engine. Follow those steps in your manual and you'll be fine.

MassScene:
The guy is trying to change his clutch. Not swap. Did he mention anything about swapping? No? It's akin to going to a restaurant and asking for a hamburger, and they suggest having a chicken pot pie. Did you want the burger, or the pot pie?

first thing you need to consider is if you have the knowledge to do this by yourself.judging by your apparent lack of familiarity with how changing the clutch works,i'd consider giving this job to somebody a little more qualified.that being said,it'd be a great learning experience-just be prepared to go without a car for a while if you get hung up somewhere.you did the first thign right by buying a Helm manual.
look in the Helm for the procedure on removing the tranny.then look at the section on replacing the clutch.i don't have my Helm here,so i can't give you specific page numbers, but looking at the tranny section's directory page should tell you where to go.
