crappy reception
hows it goin today guys. im having a problem getting reception with my stereo. i have a jvc that i paid about 170 for. i baught the antenna and hooked it up in my car(92 EG) and i live in an area that gets really good reception because i have other cars that get it fine, but everything comes in statiky. imalmost ready to get XM just becasue im so annoyed with it. you can only listen to PitBull for so many days. haha. any suggetions? anyone with the same problem? thanks
its a stock antenna assembly. when i baught the car, the antenna and antenna wire were missing. so i went and baught one from a junk yard and it is in fine working order, i just dont get any stations.

The ant. is grounded at both ends, [has to be] when you mount the ant. it gers its ground from the cars body, right at the ant. base, the part that is inside the body skin is held to the body, [ground] by the shaft bolt that you screw into ant. from the outside of body, you need a multimeter to check the ant., set meter to contenuity, one probe gos to ground, [chassis] the other will 1- go to center pin of ant. plug, [the part you plug into radio] there should be NO contenuity, [no connection, no "beep" out of multimeter] 2- to the outside of ant. plug, [the bigger part] there should be FULL continuity, [meter will "beep" and read dead short or 0000 or close] 3- one probe to pin and other probe to the bigger part, again there should be NO continuity, no beep from multimeter, and readout should not move, [change] if any of this is not happening, the ant. or ant. lead is bad, the ground needed for the plug end comes from plugging it into the HU, [ the part that makes contact in the HU with the outside, [bigger part] of the plug is grounded to chassis through the HU.
