Default Short Ram air intake whistling noise

I had an after market short ram intake put in my 1996 civic DX. I now have a severe long, loud, and I must add, annoying whistling noise when I take off in 1st gear and does not really stop until I have shifted in to 4th gear. What could it be causing this noise? Could it be some sort of Vacuum leak?? Please help I am desperate. Also, would it be beneficial to run the cold air intake and if so where is the best place? Thank you

I think just about everyone's car with an aftermarket intake whistles..
It's no big deal unless the noise is driving you crazy..

And the best place to run the cold air intake is through the hole in the fender weld where the stock intake is to suck in colder air..

Yah, if your using a short ram, that will always be there. I've actually been asked if I have a hidden blower from the noise. Just sell your short ram and get a cold air and your problems will be solved. - Darrell

I have been listening closely and the odd thing is that it is getting longer, louder and more frequent. It is not just a quick suction noise. It just doesn't sound right. Just scared I could be hurting the engine.
Regarding the cold intake could I just add on to it rather than buying a new one? BY the way, Where you suggested to run the intake is exactly where I was thinking. At least we are on the same page! lol
I am having another major problem with the instrument cluster, I added the indiglo lights for the temp, sepd, and fuel. My friend pulled the needles off and I can't tell if the needle broke or if it can be put back on? When I try it goes in the hole bt does not stick and falls over. I hope this makes sense. Can you help or can you guide , me to the right place?
