Default Timing belt

Is the timing belt suppose to wobble? Here's a video of my timing belt. Can someone tell me if this is normal or not. And how can I fix it? http://www.we-todd-did-racing....DE%3D

no thats not normal.

your video is shitty btw i cant see anything, all ic an hear is your motor screaming, not a normal scream either.

why is there no cover on your timing belt? it looks very thin too, are you sure thats your timing belt?

there should be tension on the timing belt, how much tension is there. could be the tensioner.

who installed it?

get some clearer pics of it and let us know how loose it is.

Motor doesn't really sound like that. Camera makes it sound wierd. Valve cover was cut to tune the cams. I know there's a bolt missing on this picture but theres a bolt there now. There's about 3/4 of an inch front and back tension on the belt. Dynamic Autosports installed it.

How do I adjust the tension? And how hard is it to do? I just read that to check the tension u get the longest part of the belt and twist it and it should twist 90degrees, nothing mroe ntohing less. That's how much tension I have right now. I also read a post on g2ic that this is normal. Can someone tell me exactly what is happening?

on the lower cover of the timing belt, u will see a rubber plug. remove that rubber plug and it will give u access to the timing belt tensioner bolt. loosen that bolt. now standing from the front of the car, insert a lond flat head screw driver towards the timing belt tensioner pulley. u will see a brace/bracket that is holding the timing belt tensioner and there is also a spring attached to it. u need to push up on the bracket with the screw driver. u will feel the belt getting tighter the more u push up on this bracket. you dont want the belt to be tooo tight, just enough so it deflects a little bit when u push on the belt. keep the screwdriver in the same place and now tighten the tensioner pulley bolt. that should do it! it might help if u have a friend hold n the screwdriver.

I will check it out tomarrow since it's already dark. Is the bolt easy to access? Do I need to remove any covers? From a scale of 1-10 how hard is this to do? Thanks BTW: I think this is the last post I can post today because i'm a restricted user so please give me more info and i'll be reading but not posting. TIA to all thats helping.

well u already have the top cover removed so i dont think u need to remove anymore cover's. just locate where the timing belt tensioner is and u should find that rubber plug i was talk n about previously. remove the plug, and i think it's a 14mm bolt. use a socket and wrachet to loosen it. once it's loosen, just use the long screw driver to push up on the tensioner bracket in order to put tension onto the belt. hold the bracket in tha position and then retighten the tensioner bolt. should be a quick and easy fix!

That is the intake side, the tensioner is found below the exhaust cam. It has a spring attached to it, you can't miss it!

in that picture to the rbottom right side. u will see a gear that the timing belt runs around. that is the water pump. a little below the water pump and to the left, u will see/feel a rubber plug. remove that rubber plug and it will give u access to the tensioner bolt. (if u jack up the car and take the driver's side wheel off, u can see it more better)

tehn follow my previous advice on how to tension the belt

just be carefull the screwdriver thing works really good but not too tight, too much will wear out your water fast.

The cover is #2 on the diagram, the bolt is #21, the tensioner is #14. There's also the 3 teeth past TDC on the crank pulley bolt trick to tension the T-belt.

The rubber plug to access the tensioner pulley bolt is right directly above the crank pulley in that pic.

Since the belt is supposed to deflect a little bit on that side because the distance is so long, it's probably going to vibrate at least a little bit when the engine is turning fast. I don't know if that's normal or not, though, because I have all my belt covers on like I'm supposed to.

u should be able to just reach down and unplug the rubber cover with ur hands. no need to remove any motor mounts.

Found everything, I loosen the bolt up and now when I try to tighten the tensioner nothings happens. The belt is lose as hell but I can't get it to tighten. How the hell to I get the tensioner to tighten up the belt? I push the bracket holding the spring. Doesn't do nothing. I try pushing it up, it wont go up. What do I do now?

Heres the instructions from helms.

remove valve cover.
set #1 to TDC
rotate the crank 6 revolutions
set #1 to TDC
loosen tensioner bolt 180 degrees
rotate the crankshaft 3 teeth on the camshaft pulley
tighten the bolts.

that should be it.
