Default RPMs at 80mph (4th gen. only)

i searched, but came up w/ 5th gen. answers, not 4th gen. and since it's very likely i'm going with a 4th gen., i was wondering what your RPMs are at 80mph cruising.

4th. gen. only, please. thanks.

Sounds like he may have tweaked his ride. Got a higher Final Drive? If so he's got some good acceleration, but low top speed.

i think he had a custom throttle body and a Apexi V-AFC 2. maybe that's what up'ed the RPMs? the car really moved out.

Throttle body and Vafc can't effect cruising rpms. My M2A4/jdm tranny has .787 5th gear while usdm M2F4 trannies are .870. That will make it spin a little faster, but I don't know if that can account for 1000 rpm. Wheel size maybe? I'd hate to admit that I've got some big 18" wheels (when you're putting down over 400 whp you don't care about wheel weight as much, but now that I'm NA again I've got to get somw smaller wheels).

No mods will affect what RPM his car runs at when it is in gear unless he changed the 5th gear, which I HIGHLY doubt.

If he was running at 5K rpms...I bet he was in 4th. However, this still does not sound correct. He would be running at slightly higher than 5K rpms.

like what 2lude4u said, it could be wheel size. I know my speedo is off cuz my wheel is a bit smaller 215/45/zr16 while stock is what 205/50/16?? So when im going 90mph, IM actually going 80sumthin but IM not sure how much its off by.

i think the guy's prelude was just a frankenstein. i noticed a few other oddities with the car. he had a 94 VTEC with black leather door sills, but the seats (front/rear) were tan leather (as well as most of the carpeting). he also did not have the OEM rear subwoofer speakers that are located between the rear seats in the back.

I am almost postive that I am at 4000 RPM. I am all stock besides a K&N drop in filter and DTM universal muffler.

guys, other than changing gears or wheel/tire size....there is NO MOD that will change speed at any rpm...you could have 800hp and still run about 3.8k at 80 mph (jdm m2b4).....

the frankenstein has nothing to do with it, the crankshaft is still spinning the trans at the same rpms no matter how long the stroke is or whatever your friend changed....
