Default Horn install *pics*

checked under the dash compartment and there is almost no space to mount my horns on the passenger side.

u see?
So i had to bust out the recip. saw to a least make some space. That's not all, they are going to me mounted upside down instead because the air blower of the legend is taking up the space.

because the horn body is long, I had to trim the outer piece to fit it in the legend.

the mounting part was the difficult part. they give u a long metal rod so u gotta find a way to mount it. I ended up with bleeding fingers because of all the sharp objects down there. My hands slipped many times.

here is the result of the passenger side. Notice that there is a gap between the top of the horn and the glove compartment. Most cars you would see almost no gap. When i open the glove compartment of the legend, it would hit the horns if i were to have no gaps. So now it has to look ugly. lol. Every other car that i have seen does not need to mount it like I have it right now. gaps=ugly.

gotta take the foot rest out when mounting it upside down or else you would not be able to put the horns back as far as possible with the passenger side.

Here it is. That's the best you could probably do with it. If i were to make it look like the passenger side, they would not work as well because one would be further out and the height of each horns would not be the same. having it parallel to each other is very critical.

When it's all done.

the crossovers are not in yet. I'm waiting for a good EQ to appear on Ebay, preferrably a 31 band EQ such as the ID or the Behringer (home audio). These will need a bit of tuning to sound good. there is too much spikes right now.

Oh yea, this is in a 1992 Acura Legend.

why is it messy? because i'm not done

For whatever reasons, Acura decided to stuff all the electronic crap under the dash so there is no space to fit the horn drivers. I can't put them as far back to the dash as possible because there is NO SPACE..

That's what I get for going full horn body instead of the minihorns. No doubt the minis will fit perfectly, but I didn't want to sacrifice any low-end of the horns . Not to mention, I got it for $150 shipped brand new. hahaha.

should have done the mini's

- easier to install
- stage and image better
- shorter in height, so they don't show as much

all for the trade off of a few hundred Hz..........tisk tisk

regardlless, enjoy them, I'm sure it will be all good once you get them fully installed

I would do minis if i could find them for the same price. lol.

I'll go with the minis when i upgrade to the cd2comp. muahaha.

but i'm stuck with the full bodies for now. Yea the trade off might not have been worth it, but hey, they were brand new and i couldn't pass up the deal.

I had a friend install some horns in about the same position. When he competed, the judges marked off points because of the fact that they hung so low. The drivability of the car suffered a little.
