im a honda n00b and i need some advice...
ok i am installing a V-AFC on my friends 98 GS-R in a little while and was after reading the book that came with it i was wondering if it is even safe to run with it on there and NOT tune it immediately. is there a way to just set it to where it only displays information and doesnt use any of the Fuel enrichment/leaning abilities??? this would be greatly appreciated...
btw i did a few searches last night and i got a bunch of threads like... should i use a V-AFC on this car with ..... so they were of no use to me... if there is a FAQ on here would someone please direct me to it i could not find one.... thanks in advance....

you can run it without tuning because all the settings will be on zero (stock settings). don't mess with the settings before getting some dyno time tho.
so if i just do the initilization on it and nothing else it would be like driving the car without a V-AFC even hooked up right??? is it even safe to lean out the mixture a LITTLE when v-tec kicks in??? i know that when this 98 GSR hit vtec it goes off the chart rich because you can see fuel come out of the exhaust about as bad as my friends 91 mr2 turbo thats running 15psi. im pretty sure taht if we leaned it out just a hair that he would make a littlemore power and get some better mileage correct???

You may get some more power, but in my opinion it isn't worth risking the engine until you get it on a dyno.
If you don't know the ratio you are potentially leaning it out too much and will be putting the engine at higher risk. Why not just get a bit of dyno time and have a tuned reliable engine?

i was just asking... didnt know if it was safe at all to just barely lean it out some... but generally what is the A/F on a GS-r when in Vtec?
