which mark is advance on the crank pulley, i forgot

I can't remember if advance is the first mark or the third mark, someone clue me in please.

advance is a direction, not a mark. tdc is the single white mark. engine spins counterclockwise. the further left (toward headlights) you see your flashes the more you are advancing. the red mark on d16's is 16degrees btdc. rotating your distributor toward firewall is advance.
