Default Slipping tranny

I've got my b16a XSI motor with a YS1 with LSD transmission.
I can run through first-fourth all day no problems, however i get to fifth gear and it CONSTANTLY keep popping out of gear. The shift linkage i cut and welded myself it's in fine, straight up and down where it needs to be. I don't understand. can someone help? I need a ball park reason of why it's literally POPPING out of 5th gear....into neutral.
thanks guys and gals

Check the tranny fluid 1st.. should be 2qt in there..
If all is good then it's most likely the 5th gear synchro..

yeah i agree, its not the linkage, it might be the fluid, or its more then likely the 5th gear is going out, i have had this happend liek 3 times, but with 3rd and 4th...

SO what kind of Plans should i make with this tranny. Taking it out and having the tranny serviced? That would suck *** but if it means i can drive in 5th gear i'll do it. I'll get on it and check the oil level. I'll see if i can find the diagram but if anyone has it readily available on a YS1 i'd greatly appreciate it. Ok off to search.

Called around at local tranny shops. They said, "something broken" well duh i can tell when 5th gear doesn't stay in gear. Someone sounded like they knew what they were talking about, something about having these, "dog-tags" "snap rings" or something that actually holds the 5th gear in its place. But **** i am so confused right now. "1g to fix" "250+ to rip it apart" and that's if i rip the tranny out and bring it to them. Does anyone have any solid experience with this.....nightmare.....

"5th gear keep popping out, but 1-4 is flawless. and even 5th gear goes in place perfect, but as you accelerate the car actually pushes the shift linkage out of 5th into N."

Fixed her. I drove 20mi on my tranny with less than 1 quart of 10w-30 in it!!!!!!
LASt time i trust a mechanic besides myself or my buddy. The guy told me it was coming out the fill hole....what a lazy ****. But then i am a lazy **** for not double checking it.

almost lost my YS1 because of STUPIDITY......
ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT STUPIDITY.....

that would have been the world's stupidest 1200$ oversight.

point is...5th gear works again....and shifting is smooth sailing...
