Default H22a vac boc question

On the back side of the motor bolted to the underside of the intake manifold is a little black thingy. With 1 plug and like 3 or 4 vac lines comeong from it. I want to trash it but not sure what it will do. Any one have any ideas? Here is a pict of the motor when i first got it. Its the only pict that shows the thingy. http://pic16.picturetrail.com/...2.jpg

that opens up the IAB's (intake air bypass). Basically at around 4800rpm it opens up the IM more to flow more air before VTEC engages. If i were you id keep it. The GSR also has the same system.

Oh and that motor is CLEAN

I reckon that's the vacuum resevoir, and that's a check valve on the vac line that goes back to the IM. It "stores" the vacuum used to open the IAB butterflies once the solenoid is actuated by the ECU.

It can be removed along with the rest provided that you have a way of opening up the butterflies. Hooking up the diaphram straight to vacuum, or tapping the solenoid power to the VTEC solenoid, or removing the entire IAB system (incl midsection of IM) are some possibilities.

This can also save you some time for wiring it for a car that doesn't have IAB control stock (non-GSR/Prelude among others)
