Default Tire Size

Would it make a big difference if I got wider tires than stock but keep my stock blades....the tires i found were 205/50/15.. is it dumb to do this? Its just that there so much cheaper tha the stock size tire...$71 for stock..$57 for the wider ones. Any suggestions?

i run 205/50/15s .. the difference isn't too noticeable.. the overall diameter is a little smaller, so your speedo will be a little off [ like at 80mph, your speedo will read like 81~82mph ].

and its usually more expensive for the 205s than it is for 195s .. so i dunno why you're getting a better deal on 205s. but i say go for it.

205's won't make the car look "bad". I put 195's on my GSR which hasn't been lowered and the tires look too damn scronny!! but if you can get 205's cheaper than 195's then ****! go for it, can't go wrong there.

Get the 205/50s. They are cheaper than 195/55's because the 195s are a weird-*** size and you'll have a greater selection of tire in the 205/50 size. Also, you'll have better traction from a wider tire. The height of the 195/55's and 205/50's is almost identical. It really depends on the manufacturer when it comes to the exact height/width/etc. Check out the specs on each tire at http://www.tirerack.com and you can see exactly what the size differences are. I had 205/50's at one point and I really liked them. The car seemed to "track" alot better when going at higher speeds. Good luck

^^ Had those tires after the stock tires. They worked well wet and dry.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Beavis &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">205's won't make the car look "bad". the '195' is the width of the tire. the other dimensions of the tire (wheel diameter and sidewall height) have more to do with how big or little the tire looks...
