1997 ITR #122....still waiting patiently and having no luck.
For those of you who have been watching the developements of #122 over the summer, know that only three weeks ago I thought it would be a good idea to blow my motor only three days before I was to fly back to Hawaii and only two days before I was to drop the car off at Matson Shipping to have it shipped to hawaii.
After phone calls with the shipper, emails, meeting all the guys at Endless Garage on Oahu, I get an email this morning from Matson stating they do not ship vehicles that do not run. Gee thanks for letting me know in a timely manner.
I've been talking with several distributors here on Honda-Tech about getting my parts ordered but now have to wait because I may now be forced into getting my car worked on in Seattle. This may not be a bad thing. However, I wanted to over see the work, take pictures, and just be there incase they needed to talk to me or show me something.
This is so frustraiting that I was actually considering selling the car, but I remember all the fun I've had in it in just a short period of time and I remember the people that I have met in my adventure from Atlanta Georgia to Hawaii. Reading the posts about others who finally got their cars running and all the bull **** they went through helps as well.
So I guess, the next plan of attack is to source out a reputable shop in Seattle who can bore, sleeve, and rebuild the bottom end for me and who I know will be honest. Good luck to all of you with your cars, I hope life is well, and I'll keep those who care, and those who dont, posted on the slow progression and rebuild of the #122.
Aloha,
Haleiwa-Brando

Turboing a stock block ITR and then beating it so that it blows, when you know it has to run for a major planned event...
I dont see how you expect any sympathy. You could have kept it NA and had the turbo parts with you, or you could have bolted it on and never taken it up past 4K rpms. IMO its your fault that it blew, no matter how many threads you make about it.

man, owning a type r sucks sometimes due to the problems that arise unexpectedly. it has happened one too many times for me.
anyway, good luck getting her fixed away from home. make sure you trust the person dealing with transporting the car and whatnot. anyway, take care.

i highly doubt once or twice over 4k would damage anything. regardless, i'm pretty sure it was tuned.

First off, he did not expect sympathy from anyone. Even during the post that stated that he blew his motor, he said that he blamed no one but himself for the problem that arose.
Granted he probably shouldnt have kept the stock block, I dont see what giving him a hard time will do. He is simply letting the people who care know about the progression of his vehicle. If you dont care then dont read.
Anyways, I hope everything works out with your car Brando. IT seems as if the odds have been stacked against you through this ordeal. Best of luck and there is no where to go but up from here.

No but he should have been running lower compression pistons and forged rods to begin with.

honestly, i believe that tuning on a stock block is fine. he was only trying to maintain 8-10psi i believe.

he threw the turbo kit on(for whatever reason) before he went back to hawaii, who expects a tuned boosted type r to get fucked up on 8psi,
hey niterider i have a black gsr door, complete with all the power ****, just needs the molding shaved off

I was boosting 8lbs with occasional spikes to 10lbs. From all the research I've done, the bottom end can handle this.

that was directly taken from his post about what happened and i assume it seems as though this was a thought out building process. imo, 8-10psi is relatively moderate too.

Brandon, check out http://www.nationwideautotrans.com
they can ship a non-running vehicle to Hawaii just as long as it can steer, roll, and brake.
They're prices are reasonable too. I was qouted $1,285 for a motorless car from SoCal to Hawaii (Hilo).
Call em up for a free quote. Shipping the non-drivable R back to Hawaii isn't as hard as you may think.
