Timing belts>> PE, Greddy, Toda, or OEM????
Well, it's about time for Cordillia to get a new belt and was wondering what to do. I already know that I'm going to use an OEM pump, but with all this talk about even having PE belts break, I don't know what to do.
An OEM belt is only like $50 while the other high names are $100+. I've heard of people even managing to break PE belts, but noone has said anything about Greddy. Never heard about Toda belts breaking, but then again I don't feel like I need to spend that kind of money on a belt.
Prelude guys had a poll found here -> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=818861 and the majority chose OEM.
I'm thinking I might try the Greddy unless anyone could give me reason not to.

Unless you have a reason to run a PE or Toda (same thing really) then I would go OEM. I now have a Toda timing belt because I have Toda C's. If I weren't running C's then I'd have an OEM belt.
I'd love for someone like Tuan to pop in and comment on this.
Since being reminded of his Toda problems with the belt amongst other things... I'd be interested to hear thoughts from him and others on proper/inproper installation and the belts/cams/gears in general. Some old threads on here would tend to suggest that painting a stock belt red or blue would give you a cheaper, better alternative than PE/Toda.
(just what i read...)
btw if you have stock valvetrain and stock cams, you should not be using anything else but a stock belt. What's the point?

some aftermarket belts are stronger, designed for motors with bigger cams (which stress the belt more)...

OEM IMO..
how much extra perf will you really gain out of your timing belt? depends on your upgrades of course but not worth the extra $ in my mind.

Toda belt = Red PE belt. Reason the Toda belt is $50 more is b/c it says "Toda" on it. Its the exact same belt, just red instead of blue.
I dont know what the toda belt is made out of, but you should always use oem timing belts, hell I dont know how it is with hondas but with dsms most people use oem timing belts unless youre like into 9's or 10's , then they use kevlar ones that sell for like 150$ , cranky!

Toda/PE belts are made of kevlar. Honda has extended their timing belt change intervalvs to every 100k, thus giving me the idea that the newer honda tbelts are made of kevlar as well, but my friend bought an ITR belt at acura the other day and it wasnt kevlar, just normal ITR belt. I'm sure Len would know more about this than me.
