rear caliper problems need help
i have a right rear caliper that just eats pads up in a month or so. i cant figure out why it does this the left is ok and so is the right front. I have already checked rotor runout and also put in new rotors and had a few machined. Anyone ran into this problem before.
Yep. Check the pins, make sure they slide in and out freely. If not, pull them out and apply grease liberally. Slap it back together and hope for the best.
Do the pads fit nice into the caliper bracket? Sometimes I have to file the ends a little (thickness of the paint?) so they aren't wedged in too tight. They need to release when you let off the brakes.
Also-- Check whether the handbrake mechanism down in that caliper is releasing?

dont you just love it when things (sometimes) goes wrong and you HAVE to upgrade?
only if you have the cash for it tho..
i cant think of anything else you can check that other people havent covered.. so good luck

If the easy stuff doesn't seem to work (slider pins seized) then I'm gonna guess that the internal caliper parking brake mechanism is messed up. Happens quite often on Honda's, buy yourself a remanufactured caliper and you should be good to go.

i think your on to something here. It was very hard for me to turn the piston back in this caliper and the other side took half the effort. Also if i pull the ebrake at about thirty mph only the other side locks up. Leading me to believe the other side had tension already and the pads were hot. My local autoparts dealer said it was probably the ebrake tensioner also. Thanks.
I agree... if the piston is hard to turn back in something is defintely hangin up inside. Change the caliper and you should be good to go.
