Default I finished my swap today!

Finally, after throwing a rod, forcing me to step up and fix my problem. I built and installed a completely new set up. I just got her running again today, after a month of down time. I've always wanted to build a motor, but feared my lack of experience. After reading and researching alot of info i managed to piece together a set up that i'm very pleased w/. I still have a few things to do,such as dialing in the timing and fuel, to maximize my new set up. But i'm stoked w/ my completion. No codes or check engine light. All this happened due to the help of Honda-tech and some of my friends, i met on H-tech. I would like to say thank to them for all there help and knowledge. Both helped make this happen, through there time, lending of tools and knowledge. They helped me make this possible and happen. I would now like to publically thank them Tim (trbointeg) and Troy (dwnthehatch). They're great people and friends. I've only lived up here 2 years and it's nice to have friends such as them. I thank you both for your help and dedication as well as honda-tech for having the resources and people who are willing to share there knowledge and experience.

Thanks-Jason

what type of swap did you do? Good job BTW...it's always satisfying doing stuff yourself correctly the first time, or just correctly in general. Much more satisfying then dropping your car off at a shop and picking it up 5 days later.

Awesome. What are you looking for, numbers-wise? How much more will it be than your previous setup? And finally, how much did it end up costing, alltogether, if you can even estimate.

I'm hoping for 120+ whp, but I have no way to tell. I really want 125-130whp, and i'm hoping a cam will get me there.
My original motor was the 70 hp dpfi 4spd crap(d15b2).
Then i added the header, exhaust, Y8 intake mani w/ gsr TB and converted to MPFI, but a rod failed and blew a hole in the block. Now it's what you see.

As for costs, it depends on how indepth you want to get. I'll give you an over view.

D15b7 block $75( bought a whole motor just used the block)
D16Y7 head $35
milled .050 inch(1.27mm) $40
exhaust ports slightly ported & polished $free ( I did it my self)
D16Y8 head gasket $34
D16y8 Intake Manifold $75
port matched and polished to TB $free (self labor)
GSR TB $35 (polished self labor)
NGK plug wires $35
Bosche platnuim plugs $8
Skunk2 Cam gear $65
DIY "Ice box" modified GSR intake w/ KNN Filter $25
B&M FPR w/ gauge $35
PG-7 ECU (89 teg) $25
N2 neuspeed 4-2-1 header $85
2.25" mandrel bent custom exhaust( piping, bend assembly and hung) $160
Magnaflow race muffler $106
Magnaflow high flow cat $55
Magnapack resinator $50
DX tranny $50
evasive motorsports short shifter $35
SUS shift bushing $13
ARP head studs $100
SI distributor $75
If I added misc. gaskets,seals,fluids,belts etc $100

I'd say $1320 for everything.

I know some people will say "for just a lilttle more you could get a B-series swap".
Yes and no, i'll break it down.
Stock B16 w/ mount kit runs about $1300-1500, not including any new fluids, belts, seals or gaskets that you may choose to replace.
Also from what's mentioned above, this is the stuff I would tranfer over to a B-series set up. Intake, TB, ARP head studs, short shifter w/ bushing, complete exhaust, that's about $615 of the over all cost.

So to break it down, the D-series motor set up w/ parts, and new fluids belts, seals and gaskets figured in, cost me about $705.

Hope that answers your questions well enough.

Thanks-Jason
