Default 5th gear and reverse

I did a search guys and found out some good info but i want to get this clarified before i make assumptions.

On way home from tune shop today, happy as could be and cruisin in 5th, my shifter just popped outta 5th completely, put it back in hit the throtle a bit, same thing, so then i began holding it, and felt it pushing into my hand, but only when i was on the throttle a little harder than normal. So a few downshifts to passa some trucks and i eventually hit a point where my holding it cannot stop it from poppin, so i cruised in 4th at 60 for liek an hour

so try one more time, and i feel somehtin bounce up and hit my feet, and i look in rearview mirror to see sumin small bouncing away....?

Finally reach my destination and my car will not go in to reverse, like there is a wall blocking me.

All other gears work fine....just those two, did i mess up some syncos, bent a shift fork? i have no idea and i need a 5th gear for interstate driving as well as reverse so i can park ASAP, should i get a new tranny asap, or is it a cheap fix??

PS: anyone near baltimore, know how to fix trannies or know someone?? thanks

you probably hit somthing, nothing came out of your tranny or your **** would be uber screwed. Sounds like the 5th/reverse shift fork to me, no clue on cost, but i know i have a tranny that i need to fix also. so tell us costs hehe

it is not a cheap fix, the money you spend to fix it you would be cheaper finder a used tranny.

when it happened to me, it cost 1000, but luckily the car still was still under warranty

im guessing so, i heard from smaller shop at home that most places, whether they do tranny therer, or send it to another shop are going to try their best to wanna pull the tranny so you run into labor costs of close to a thousand for some......in my case thats what is probably goign to have to happen, but thre are other things a tranny place can check first before they have to pull the unit..............

i guess i was juts unlucky.....

ps: forks go from 30-55 depending on which one
