Default More Moderation of the ITR forum

My rant:

I have been here about 5 years and don't drop in here as much as I have in the past.....................................and I know why!

I just read 3 different post on here with some of the most basic mis-information.

I have no need to get into specifics, but F ing-A, get to know your car, read up on it, stop spreading misinforamtion.............and no your stock ITR is not reving past 9000 RPM, your tach is off!

I am well aware "we all start somewhere", but it seems some here start a-little-lower on that "somewhere" scale than others.

So Moderators, my vote is for more moderation.

Just my .02 cents, Not that anyone cares

Yeah, I prefer the Road Racing/Autocross moderation policy... iron fist. It's such a pleasure to lurk in that forum, so little crap makes it through.

You are absolutely right........no one cares including the mods.

First off, the ITR forum is not the place to rant. Take your concerns to a mod by IM. Secondly, this has been discussed before and most agreed that the forum should be more or less self moderated with the mods stepping in if things get out of hand. In other words less moderation by mods because there are enough mature members usually present to keep the n00bs in line.

that is exactly the case w/ this forum, as opposed to other forums on HT. There ARE (for the most part) more mature people in the ITR forum. The ones that aren't do get weeded out pretty quickly (as you've probably noticed a bunch of shitty threads that were deleted in the last few mins).

As far as the information being correct, that's a different story. Moderation has to deal w/ the site running smoothly etc., not the content/technical aspect of it as much. A lot of that responsibility can come from other members, not so much moderators.

If everyone does their part by correcting errors, using better judgment in posting, using the report to mod feature, and keeping those that are less informed in line, this site and forum will be a much better place.

I have a suggestion that will help the ITR forum run more smoothly. Make an FAQ answering lot of the questions that are misinformed, such as redline, fuel cutoff, rated hp (it's NOT 210hp!). When a n00b or misinformed person shows up with wrong information, we show them the FAQ thread and put them in their place. That would cut down a lot of the misinformation that is spread in the ITR forum, and with the help of fellow members, the immatures ones will fall out. Thus no need for additional moderation is necessary.

FAQ has been there for a long time, but ignorant noobs still ask all these stupid questions anyway, and when told to look in the FAQ or do a search most of them get their panties all bunched up

Yes, there is an FAQ, but it covers specific questions, like what header to get, intakes, exhaust, etc. I think we need another addition to that FAQ, like specs of the JDM B18C and the B18C5, differences in transmissions, try to get the misinformation down.

Well then if you find threads you think should be added to the FAQ, go ahead and post the links in the FAQ thread

I agree with Matt.

It seems that there is a ton of misinformation floating around, worse than usual.

I'm convinced this is entirely due to the fact that a good deal of the more knowledgable, mature members don't come here much any more and we've been overrun with people who just like to spout at the mouth and have really no idea what they are talking about. Sheez, when I first started on here a lot of the older members were already gone, and each year this place gets dumbed down imo.

Like Tuan's thread that is back from the dead. If that thread was started today it would very, very bad.

I've got an idea.

Let's make it like the Type R expo...

Only Type R owner can drive, non-Type R owners can watch

---------------------------------------------

Only Type R owners can post in the Type R forum (Must Provide Proof of coz)

Non-Type R owners are authorize to read only.

So if you wanna drive, or if you wanna post, get a Type R.

Funny thing about this is that this forum would not be what it is today (nor would the expo) if it was not for non-ITR people.

So I don't really see how that would work... seeing as the PROBLEM is primarily coming from ITR owners and not the non-itr members in here.

seconded..

seriously though, it's up to people who know to make the corrections.. it can't be helped that the cars are being bought by a new generation of owners.. this place is what we make of it..

matt, if you see stuff you know is wrong.. correct it! there has always been a struggle to correct misinformation here..
