Default swapped in a d15b7, won't turn over!! need help!!

here's the deal. I just finished swapping in a d15b7 into my brother's 93 CX. car has been sitting for about a year and so has the motor. the car cranks but doesn't want to turn over. I reused the CX harness. MAP sensor isn't hooked up yet, but does that even matter right now? No CELs right now either.

here's the things I've done so far.

replaced: dizzy cap, rotor, plugs, new battery.

I know fuel is getting to the motor cause when I pull the plugs, fuel is dumped all over all of them. the car has been sitting for almost a year now with less then 1/4 tank of gas. could the gas be bad? I added 2 more gallons on top of the gas that has been sitting in the tank.

Dizzy is fine, checked the igniter with a volt meter, checked the internal coil with an ohm meter, both came out to specs. I also pulled each plug wire one by one and stuck a screwdriver into them and grounded it out while cranking. I was getting a spark on all 4.

I'm going to do a compression test as soon as I can get a hold of one.

what else should I check? I'm at a loss...help of any kind would be nice. thanks in advance.

pour about a cap full of oil down each of the cylinders...

sounds like it is not getting compression.

sounds to me like you might have a timing problem. have you checked the condition of the belt. it might be worth changing it if it cures the problem.

new dilemma. so I try push starting it earlier. no good. anyways, I push the car in, try to start it again, now it sounds like the starter is screwed. when I try to start it, the starter just sounds like it's spinning and not catching the flywheel. just spins and spins. ****...so anyways, I put on the old CX starter. when I go to crank it, the motor sounds like it's really struggling to crank now. sounds like it wants to seize...man, so what do you guys think? bad motor? ****...

Plug the Map sensor in.............. This could have an effect on the car not starting. Then make sure all the ground wires are attached...... I also think that because you have tried and tried to start it that the battery may be weak now and thats the new problem with the starter. Try these things. Hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestions.

I've hooked up the MAP sensor, vaccum line run to it and plugged it into the connector, no CEL.

Triple checked all my grounds. Just in case, how many main grounds am I supposed to have? the only ones I see are the one from the battery to the chassis, tranny to chassis, and the valve cover to chassis. am I missing any?

Battery is still good cause when I do an open circuit test on the battery, it's reading 12.6+. plus when I crank it, it's staying above 9.6v so it's a good strong battery.

man, still no luck. I dont' know what more to do...

side note: what does it take to make a motor run? fuel, spark, and compression? am I missing any??
