update

Finally! My window got fixed! Total was $284, and the kid's parents paid for everything. The service looks good, but my interiror smells like apoxy I ended up getting the green tint which is cheaper than the blue tint window. Apparently, integras come with green tint.

(According to the istaller, alot of businesses quoted me the high prices for the green tint because they thought I had comprehensive insurance I heard from the installer that they'll do that to make lots and lots of extra money off us and the insurance company! )

Anways, here is my car with the rear window. All fixed and leak free, but minus the UCDavis sticker. (oh yeah, I still have lots of glass left inside. Its almost impossible to get all the glass out of the interiror)




Hey guys...my rear windshield got broken by some kids accidently throwing rocks at it . Does anyone in the SAC region know where i can get a decent quote?

Ive been getting 800---to 1500 dollar range. Ive gotten some quotes for like 300, but Im not sure if thats realistic. What are some realistic prices Ill be paying? Ive called like 4 places. This is nuts. I can buy a beater for 800!!! with a rear window!

I believe the rear glass itself is about 800 dollars. You can get a FAL lexan replacement for 300. (plus labor of course)

If you have full coverage, wouldnt the insurance cover the windshield. I beleive they do... You should search around and buy a used trunk lid from someone...

 

I have a sedan and currently my cars has liablity only right now (struggling/poor student). I've talked to the parents of the children that were involved, and we're in the process of figuring something out. I want it fixed immediatly though, since I have to work and go to school as well. Theyre thinking about searching the junkyards for one, but I don't think theyre going to be succesful if finding one.

This sucks!! I dont really know if it was intentional. I do think it was an accident because they approached me about it, so Im trying to be as flexible as possible to getting my window fixed.

I shouldve went for full coverage. Hey, can the parents kids insurance do anything for me? She said was going to find out, but I dont think its a realistic option. I wish the hatch lid would fit, because I see alot of them around the internet.

yea seriously geeze id have gone to the cops by now... ur takin it way too lightly for an 800 dollar job...

 

i called the cops, i coudlnt even get her to write a report for me because its a civil dispute. it sucks because it wasnt a "crime" because they accidnetly hit my window. if they did it intentionally, I wouldve had safelite or one fo those 24 hours people come and fix it. For some reason, I know I shouldnt have to be so nice about this. I just hope I dont get ripped off in the end.

If its a hatch just go jack the whole hatch from the junkyard id probally be cheaper than 800 dollars. btw id be finding them kids and givin them a lil scare

 

if anything, you can try filing a claim under the parents car insur......i take claims like that every once in a while, but im not sure how its handeled or if its covered cuz its kinda a wierd situation.....its worth a try though

i,ve seen people selling the entire hatch with glass for as low as 200. dont spend 800 dollars on that ****. go through your insurance of find someone selling one. your in cali, shouldnt be hard to find.

problem is that i dont have a hatch....i have 4 door sedan...i think theyre rarer in parts than hatchback is..can anyone confirm this?....but ive posted a couple of ads on the this forum and another one. hopefully i can get this resolved soon. im very disappointed that this happend to my car when a brand new '05 rsx type s was parked pretty close to mine. haha. im sure my neighbor had full coverage on that thing too it wouldve been so much easier for her..haha..just kidding..i think its going to get resolved..but i dotn know when it will though. hopefully by monday.

what b.s.! whether it's an accident or not, it's still vandalism and i think the least the cop could do is just write a damn report, whether it turns out they can do anything or not, just so you have it on record that you tried to report it.

 

Yeah thats totally weak. If someone accidently rear ends you it's still thier fault. But you best be calling HAP in rancho cordova to check and see if they have anything.

 

i called up some more places...they said theres a different in blue and green tint windows. apparently, I can get my window fixed for 300 bucks. i dont know if this a substandard product to the oem window, but for 300, its not bad as long as it doesnt leak and my defroster/heat works.

what do you guys think?

i think theres a different in glass quality and grade..., but im not a glass expert

 

youd probably want to just call up a glass place and ask them what the differneces are......as long as its DOT approved, you should be fine.

Car is fixed. Read my update, just in case you have to replace a windshield or something.

PS--Sac people, theres a company in west sac that has a mobile serivce thats really cool! Try them! Its a family business. Really nice people and really good service.
