Why does my RPM's jump sometimes while driving

Mine did the same thing at one time. Check your battery terminal. Mine was too close to the firewall and the spark would jump between the terminal and the firewall, causing the tach to jump.
I bought a new battery and it had the terminals on the side of the firewall so my cable was close to the firewall. So I turned the batter cable away from the firewall and made sure the rubber cover was on completely.

it happened on my toyota previa
some liquid was dripping onto some wire, that messed with the fuel management, which every time it dripped (which was random) it would send the rpms to spike.
pretty random, i doubt the way the integra engines are built it could happen like that. the previa engines are built more veritcally....
but who knows... hope it helps
