what makes intake sound?

Default what makes intake sound?

be4 u call me a noob im posting this for a friend who is wondering if he will get the sound from jsut the k&n filter without the pipe. thanks

part of the intake sound is a phenomen called the Helmholtz resonator, which describes the standing wave that occurs in the pipe. this is basically the resonant fequency of the pipe

it is a function of the length and shape of the pipe, as well as the diameter of the pipe

take out the stock resonator but leave the filter box, it'll make the intake sound when you rev
