Honda Civic SI coupe 2000, NEED TORQUE!
sup,
theres a possibility that i might buy a 2000 model civic coupe si. although one of my other options are a 5th gen prelude which is alot faster! the civic i can get for a really low price, although after looking at the 111lb torque and 160hp....that is ******* slow. i expected more out of a si. a 5th gen prelude pushes 200hp and 156lb torque! i understand the prelude is a good 500lb more....that prbly makes a 20hp difference to the wheels and like 30lb difference of torque to the wheels! i want this car as a street and track car and daily driver. How bad would a civic si stock loose to a prelude stock?
- if i do end up w/ the civic si, what are ways to increase torque? does the short ram intake give torque and the cai give top speed? am i correct? if i bolt on a sri...how much torque would i get out of it? I am looking for more of a daily driver/street car.
Thanks

Too much e-racing questions. Too much variables.
I don't know about you, but for me, I like look of the 2000 Civic Si's. There's not really a way to increase the torque, unless you turbo it. It'll be a big noticeable difference then. Perhaps a complete B18 swap or LS/VTEC! Short ram does not give more torque, although it maybe feel more responsive than the CAI.

This is not e-racing forum. Don't ask what will win and how much.
The high revving B16 lacks torque because of its small displacement.
Torque comes many many factors of a motor/car. You will not gain enough torque on any type of intake on a stock motor to feel it.
AEM V2 CAI has some impressive dyno charts, but for the money, I would save it in a pink piggy bank and invest in something like a LS or GSR crank (If torque was your number one concern) for later.
Edit: Oops, Handa beat me to it.

Only thing that will increase torque is upgrading to a 1.8L or 2.0L block, or forced induction (turbo, supercharger).

if you can get the Si for cheap then get it. Si's are so beautiful. All you have to do to an Si is lower it and it looks perfect! Keep the stock wheels and everything (unless if you want some lightweight wheels). Just buy the Si, drop it and put a turbo on that beast and it will be one nice looking, fast *** sleeper

Sorry, let me elaborate... (it's pretty late and i'm tired)
In comparison to my previous civic's i was impressed (92 dx, 97 ex). As far as fast cars, I've been in a couple bro...

i know people might flame, but ive seen some GREAT Torque numbers off just a 50-75 shot of NOS, im talking about some ******* amazing gains. but if you don't like to spray, a turbo always brings out the life in a motor haha

Ive actually never seen a prelude put down less then 160 WHP, i dunno.

I'm with you here. I love the Prelude, I'd take it over an Si anyday, looks and all. It may not technically be alot faster, but a Lude SH is more fun to drive IMO than an Si, and it feels faster...maybe in the end the sensation of being fast is as rewarding as actually being fast!

I have a b16 jdm swap (5million) in my ex 96 coupe. Just with a clutch upgrade preludes are left behind slightly that is. After i slapped on exhaust and a cai much better. "all comes down to the driver"
