Default ABS light questoin..

I tried to search but can't find anything that really helps me... I have a 94 gsr and I bought a Type r cluster and installed it but for some reason the ABS light is on with the type r cluster ... I reinstall my oem cluster and the ABS light isn't on... but when I put the other one back in the light is on... any suggestions?

What year type-R cluster? Didn't they change the wiring around at some point?

Possibly to do with the different years that go from OBD1 to OBD2.
Not really positive on it though, just remove the bulb for a cheap fix.

ABS was different beginning in '98. I sorta thought that the gauge cluster wiring change happened with OBD-2, but I'm not sure about that. If that's true, the type-R cluster has to be wrong for your '94.

You already own both clusters... Just check the pinouts. Got a multi-meter??

um... well like I said I am not totally sure if its a 98 or not.. but I bought a couple of things off the guy and the climate controller that I bought was from a 97.. it could be from the same car so this cluster could also be a 97..... seems like a lot of people have these clusters in their gsr... dont' know why I always end up with the problem..damn it..

Does your ABS sound noisy? If it does theres something wrong with your ABS. If not maybe its the wiring.

Did you check the pinouts on the cluster? All you gotta do is find which pin goes to the ABS lamp on both clusters. That takes 2 minutes. They're either the same or they're not.

I know exactlly what you are talking about. I have a 94 GSR and dropped in a 98 Type R Cluster in my car. Notice that the ABS on the 94 is on the bottom and the ABS for the type R is on the top. Also there might be a few other things going wrong, like your gas guage going down when you put on your seat belt and there is one more thing but I can't remember. I had to rewire my whole cluster, but its only three wires you have to move. Basically I ran each of the wires from my old GSR cluster to find which was the ABS, which was gas and which was a seat belt sensor. Once you find out which wires they are, run the back of your Type R cluster to see what position they go in. Then unclip and harnass and plug it in. There is one wire you have to cut and weld on. If you want more help just e-mail me and I explain the whole thing to you.
