Default 195/50...will this hurt the R's performance????

TireRack is selling SO-3s in this size for only $78. This is an awesome deal, but I don't want to waste any money. Are there any performance drawbacks from not getting them in 205/50 size. Thanks in advance.

195/50's wont hurt performance from the stock 195/55's but obviously the 205's will give you more grip and better handling.

195/50 will help performance over 195/55. With 195/50, you will get better acceleration due to the smaller overall wheel/tire diameter. The downside is that your speedometer will be thrown off a little. You will read a little lower speed than you are actually going... I'm too drunk to remember the formula to calculate the amount it will be off at the moment...

195-50-15 will change you final drive ratio just a bit for the better, but if you ask me I'd stick with 205-50-15 or 195-55-15. And another point is that the 195-55-15's have a slightly larger foot print (over 195-50-15) due to its large rolling diameter, width is not the only thing to consider.

Actually its the other way around. Since the overall diameter is smaller, the smaller diameter tire/wheel combo will be turning faster than stock diameters. As a result, the speedo will read faster speeds on the smaller diameter wheel than the stock ones at a given actual speed.

I had a set of yok intermediates in 195/50/15 for a while, and they were just fine. They spin fast, so you'll be a few MPH high on the spedo, but I was happy with them.
