Default Aftermarket Rads, how much lighter?

If I need a new rad, is it worth going aftermarket?

Are they much lighter... Ideally I want my teg to weigh as little as possible, its an NA setup, so weight is a big issue.

How much lighter are they?

get a fluidyne or koyo civic radiator then.
if you want your teg to be light, then i'm sure you ripped out AC and PS.
if not, then don't even worry about trying to make your car light.

I think the radiators (equivalently sized) themselves are actually heavier, not to mention that they often have larger coolant capacities, which adds furthermore to the weight.

One from a Civic core might save you a few pounds.

I would also start by getting the car to the bare bones of what you can tolerate before you start reducing weight by finding lighter replacements.

I never had AC, but I'm not loosing power steering

It thought a larger rad might cary more fluid and therefore be heavier... is a Civic rad really a good idea.... will something that tiny really do the job?

I'd imagine that it would b/c a lot of turbo'd Honda's use them on a daily driven basis w/o problems containing the heat. If you were doing road course events, you'd have to re-evaluate that decision.

even better, move your battery to the trunk [with a sealed box]. as far as I'm concerned an aluminum radiator is just a waste of cash unless you are going pretty wild. radiators are not that heavy.

and don't be such a girlie man, get rid of the PS!!

I enjoy my power steering... its actually one of the things that stops me from gettig a CRX (they don't come with power steering)

so its beginning to look like an aftermarket rad is a waste of cash

for FI I can see it, but I think I'll stick with an OEM rad until I'm pushing 200whp
