Default fuel pressure regulator

I just bought a fuel pressure regulator and my auto tech teacher said it will do me no good without an upgraded fuel pump and larger injectors. I thought that it could be used when you have I/H/E and need more fuel so it wouldn't run lean. Please clue me in on what you know about these please. Thanks in advance.

he was right...at some pt and doesnt at some pt

is ur fuel pressur regulator adjustable? if doesn't most like it wouldn't do no good at all
my friend civic just dyno a/f ratios 2days by adjusting fuel pressure regulator with stock injector and fuel rail and able to bring 15.8 a/f ratios down to 14.1 a/f and net gain of 14hp and 11tq so there ur answer (his vafc had some troubleshoot problem so adjusting regulator is second choice)

however, fuel system upgrade is recommended but with h/i/e not really...

having h/i/e doesnt mean you're running lean, header and exhaust reduced pumping loss and free more air out and give some power that's it

Intake almost didn't make a car running lean at all it's simple free up air restriction and increase air density and velocity to crank and give u about 2hp....intake alone is a minor upgrade compared to cams and internal work...so it not consider a cause for running lean

if you get intake manifold and CAI and cams you will need to re adjust a/f ratios because at this point you modified good enough to considered ur engine is running little lean....vafc will do the job...i think stock injectors and stock fuel pump is still good at this point.....but recommend to upgrade..
