Default b20 type r

alright i have a b16b right now and i have a b20 on the way ... i plan on using the b16b head on the bottom end of the b20 but i read it will give me like 13:1 comp ... what do i need to know about doing this setup ... i searched alot and didnt see anyone doing this head on this bottom end ... does anyone think that i should use the b20 pistons for now or use my ctr's ... also what about the compression issue ... i have spoon cams ... not too much bigger than my ctr's ... any ideas for me ???

imo a waste of the b16b head... sell the b16b engine and get yourself a nicely done b16 or gsr head

that is incorrect, the b16b head will yeild the exact same compression ratio as the b16a. the compression with a stock b20 bottom end is no-where near 13/1. also you cannot use the spoon camshafts the largest you can use without notching the pistons is ITR.

For all motor I would use a gsr to bump up the cr a bit but hell if you got the b16b . And as for the b20 cr is no where close to that cr. Hell I dont think the bottom end will last too long with that cr and high rev.

Also, you won't be able to use CTR pistons in a B20 block... Smallest bore for a B20 is 84mm, and I believe the largest bore for CTR pistons is 81.25mm... Correct me if I am wrong...

If you wanna pretty much have an oem head either keep your b16b or get the gsr just for the fact that it bumps up your compression. Something you can do with the b16b just by adding a thinner head gasket. Both heads are just as good one another once you add a fair amount of time into them. So are you planning to build your block? are you going to build your head? goals? Something we need to know in order to help you out. In my opinon if you have the b16b, just stroke it to a 1.8, plan on doing headwork, IM,TB, and better header with some tuning it should be fun.
