B18B in a 99 civic EX SWAP INFO PLEASE???!?!?!??
I did some searching around but i still want to know more one of the threads on this site had posted
B18B
This is the motor in the non Type-R and non GSR Integra.
Pros
Good torque for a 1.8L (127 ft/lbs)
Inexpensive (even cheaper than a B16)
142 hp (more than any stock D series)
Boost heads love them
Cons
No VTEC
Longest B series transmission
What i want to know is more about how the swap goes everyone is talking about OBD this and that and swapping wiring. Basicall I want to know how direct of a swap it is and how reliable its going to be. I would like to put this motor in and greddy turbo it. Am i going to run into problems using my greddy exhaust made for a civic? basicall let me know anything you can about doing the swap including costs and experiences pictures even maybe thanks guys this will help a lot!

are you going to be getting an obd2 ls engine swap? If your going with obdI you'll need a obd1 to obdII conversion harness. Either way (obdII or obdI) go to hasport.com and you can get all your mounts in a kit. IMO the turbo ls is better because it has more torque.
All axles, mounts, and mount brackets are same as any other gsr or itr swap

It is a great turbo engine and an easy swap into your car. It's good for turbo because stock compression is only 9:1 whereas the B16 is 10.2:1 c/r. It's easier & more reliable to tune boost with lower compression, especially on pump octanes. Also the larger displacement moves more air which helps spool the turbine faster.
I recommend an OBD2 longblock (newer and has correct distributor and injectors that plug right into your stock Civic harness. Keep your stock harness and just lengthen a few branches to reach if needed. The VTEC wires will just be unused, unless you put a VTEC head on later or whatever.
I suggest getting an OBD2b-OBD1 conversion harness and using the 94-95 P75 LS ecu. For the boost setup throw a Hondata in there.

OBD2 longblock? what exactly does that mean seriously guys pretend i dont know anything bc i am fairly new to this whole engine swapping thing. would the hondata be better than the emanage then?
one other stupid question can i get a red valve cover for the b18b?

OBD is short for "On Board Diagnostics". It is government mandated electronics to monitor engine health and emissions outputs, etc. The OBD0, OBD1, OBD2a, OBD2b are the revisions/updates required to the systems.
OBD0= late 80's up to 1991
OBD1= 92-95
OBD2= 96-00 (the a & b versions are honda-specific)
All cars sold in the US had to conform to these standards, and as you might imagine the newer revisions got more and more strict...i.e., extra sensors to monitor more stuff. All the extra junk makes the ECU difficult (especially for Hondas) to modify for performance, at least from OBD2-up. If you use a newer engine with all the extra sensors, but use an older ECU which did not take readings from those sensors, you can simply leave them unhooked and the engine runs fine. They aren't necessary to the function of the engine, they are mostly emissions or economy related.

Longblock = a complete engine (not including tranny) that has the cylinder head & case with pistons, crank, oil pan, etc...and often intake manifold & throttle body as well. Buy it from an engine shop it's ready to run.
You can buy a red valve cover, or paint/powdercoat yours.
If you choose Hondata or Emanage, it seems you probably lack the tuning skills required so you'd have to take it to a shop. BUT...if you simply put a prefab Greddy kit on and leave it alone it will come with whatever you need already set then you can skip the Hondata or Emanage for the time being.

oh, that makes perfect sence. lets turbo an LS and then swap the tranny out for a shorter geared tranny so i can go through gears faster than i can shift and top speed can be 85
no.
if you were going to get a LS and turbo it, the way to go would be to keep the LS tranny to keep the longer gears.
now if you wanted to get a LS swap but go N/A, then you would want to swap out the tranny for a shorter geared one, as in a B16.

I like a ls turbo with gsr tranny set up. Good gear ratio and even better 1/4 mile time with lsd. If your going N/A the b16 or itr tranny would be sweet.
And yeah the manifold will bolt up to your exhaust. If its a dx non vtec then you won't have a cat, if it is vtec you can keep the cat

I have a question of my own if yall don't mind: Did all 3rd Generation Integras (94-01) come in OBD2? That's what I thought, but then I wouldn't understand why there would be an OBDI B18B, because 2nd Generation 90-93 noin-VTECs had the B18A, right? I confused...

Out of curiousity, will a B-Series VTEC valve cover fit over a non-VTEC B-Series engine?

i have thanks. I dont know why so many people on this site are so negative if what you say doesnt help then shut up. I dont know much about motor swaping so like i said i hope to find out more than what i already found from searching. Next time you decide to get all rude maybe you could post a link on here that maybe i missed
ok guys so basically im going to want to go with a OB2 B18b motor with a GSR tranny the greddy turbo and some sort of fuel management either emanage or hondata. is that right? now that i have that pretty much down will everything match up? Im sure i have to get new motor mounts i think someone mentioned hasport?! but will the wiring harness from the civic EX work and everything else that will be stock? what about axles and all that? any info guys thanks again!
