Another possible HID kit group buy...6000K or 10000K
Hey guys,
I've been talking to the owner of K-Speed motorsports located in socal area about a group buy on the "new" HID kit. Unlike the old PHILIPS kit, the new kit will come w/ either the 6000K or 10000K bulbs. I'm no expert on the HID kit, but from what I heard and my personal experience. The old PHILIPS HID kit comes w/ the 3000k bulbs, which is why it becomes yellowish as it warmed up. However, the new HID kit (6000K or 10000K) will produce almost "exact" lighting as the real HID on the TLs, S2000s, Lexus..and etc...
I'm not posting to make "profits"...I'm only trying to organize this group buy so i can get the kit cheaper too. The price so far is $600 for the entire kit w/ the 6000k bulbs. I'm not sure how much cheaper the price will be if the group buy is successful...(I'm still talking to the owner about it)...right now i just want to get some feedback from you all to see how many of you will be interested. Of course, the more the better. So please let me know if you'll participate in this group buy. I'll post more infos on the price after I work out some kind of a deal w/ the owner.
By the way, so far the kits are in back order...and the owner is getting some kit w/ 10000k bulbs too. So if you will be inerested...let me know which kit you preferr...the 6000K or the 10000K.
If you already have the PHILIPS kit, you can get the light bulbs alone...but i'm now sure about the price for the bulbs yet...but let me know if this is what you need.
I'll try my best to put up some pics of these new HID ktis as soon as possible.
LET ME KNOW....

Well I can only speak for California since I live there, but cars that come with HIDs stock are LEGAL, but ones like us who buy aftermarket HIDs are ILLEGAL.. Don't ask me why the law is fugged up.. I dunno!
If I am correct, Mike @ IPS Racing is going to be holding a group buy for the 6000k Philips HID kits in January....

Just so everyone knows - anyone who bought the original Philips kit at 4300K isn't missing out on light output compared to the 6000K or higher kit. The number refers to the color temperature and not the amount of light the bulbs produce (unless the newest bulbs are also higher wattage, though I haven't seen any info that they are). The higher the temperature, the more towards the blue/violet end of the spectrum. The only reason I can think of that someone would get pulled over for a newer kit rather than the 4300K Philips would be if the officer felt they were too blue/purple. Otherwise, the new kits should be just as "legal" as any other as far as actual light output is concerned.
BTW - I was doing some searching on the net and found that, because of the different mixture of gases used to achieve the higher color temp, the light output is often slightly lower the higher color-temp HID bulbs. The Philips site says 2700 lumens for the 6000K Ultinon vs. 3200 for the standard bulbs (D2S).

thank you specR for clearing that up.
The 10,000k HID's are a joke. When I was in Japan I saw a test/protype set of them. They SUCK. Yeah they are white. Whiter then anything I've ever seen. This whitness makes them look bright, however have you ever shined a white LED on the ground? Yeah its bright in the area it hit directly, howerever that whitness gets distorted when projecting it out which makes them really weak. When I compaired them to the normal 4300k HID's they made them look less white, however the 4300k was A LOT BRIGHTER.
The only reason the 6000k lights are almost as close as 4300k brightness is because they used the purest form of sodium crystal. By doing this, they got a blue hue, without tinting the glass or killing the brightness. The 5000k bulbs have a tinted blue glass which makes them really weak. The 10,000k is like a combination of both.
Also I would never trust a new HID company. Name is what matters with HID's!!! Why? No name company's offering HID's for hella cheep use Twanesse and other really poor manufactors who's quality really sucks!!!! Philips uses all top grade parts which are all found in OEM HID's.
Also by claiming that these new HID's give the look of S2000's, etc... is TOTAL BS. They all use 4300k bulbs. The only reason that they look good is because they have headlight housings that are made for HID's! lol LAMO...

Oh yeah for those who want it, I can get Philips 6000k kits (complete with everything) for $540 and H1 style kits for $575
The normal Philips HID kits (complete with everything) are the same price.
Also if you want just the 6000k bulbs to upgrade your current HID kit or factory HID's just let me know.
And no this is not a "hook up" or "deal" or "group buy."
Its just a local company that is very trust worthy.
Oh yeah and all those prices are shipped.
Also the "OLD" Philips kit is 4300k standard with 6000k kits also. The Philips kits are not old and are the most highly recommened HID kits in the world. Their quality and parts are unmatched since they are the company that makes about 90% of the OEM HID's for car companies.

The "new" HID kit that I'm talking about are PHILIPS too....just that they come w/ different light bulbs. Maybe they produce the same output as the 4300K bulbs, but I'm sure there are ppl who want their HID to look nice as well as bright.
Anyhow, I'll ask the owner more about the 10000K kit and give you guys the price as soon as possible.

Philips only makes 4300k and 6000k bulbs.
They will never make the 10,000k bulbs or any other tinted bulb. Philips is not in the industry to make rice blue bulbs. They are all about safety and quality.
When I was at SEMA I spoke to the VP of sales and design of Philips. All they would say was that safety and quality was their main concern and that the blue bulb market was not for them, thats what PIAA is for. - as stated by them! lol
Also no matter what kit you get, you will never have the same effect that S2000's, BMW, Audi's, TL, etc... have. Maybe you will get a similar color, however you will never get the brightness, cutoff, etc... that they have.
With HID's color should never be the matter. Only brightness, cuttoff, and quality.
If you want color with good brightness get the RAZO purewhites, or some of the other bulbs on the market. They are getting extreamly close to having the HID color with a better white look. Why spend $500+ on HID's if your gonna kill the main aspect of them. (BRIGHTNESS). Any form of changing the k (kalvin) on the HID's mess with their lumans greatly. Its just not worth it. I would only go as far to get 6000k or 4300k from a good company like Philips. Anything else in k value will just hurt the pocket book.

go for it if you want. But who knows what their HID kit is. They show some strange non-name HID company, but when you click on the picture it shows a Philips kit.
Becarful, they might try to give you a fake Philips kit. I've heard of people getting Vision/OBX HID kits (which are extreamly cheeply made) with Philips decals on them. lol What some people will pay for to save a little money.
As for this site, I have no idea. I've never really heard of them and if they are legit.

"Real HID Lighting System by Philips" Taken from the r-speed website. I THINK R-speed sponsered a friend of mine. A Spec Miata SCCA club racing car.. not 100% though.. there's 5,000 r-speed's I think. (I know of at LEAST 3 now)
Even though they are DOT, I think it makes them illegal once they are on another car. For instance if I take prelude taillights and stick them on my teg, I think it's still illegal.
I know Audis lights are pretty purple lookin, I like it!! Can't remember what Stook lights are like....
10000K bulbs are prolly like aircraft landing lights.

okay guys....i'll have to apologize to you all. I can't get this group buy to work, so the price for the PHILIPS 6000K HID kit is $575 each. As for the 10000K kit, the owner of K-Speed told me that he's not gonna get any because so far he only has source to the 10000K from Korea...which is shitty...so he's not gonna get any.
As for the 6000K bulbs, its gonna be $270 for both.
