Ok...so my buddy has a 98 Teg just threw a rod and were trying to find a new block...probably gonna grab a whole new long block and I found one really cheap with low miles but its a 95....I didnt even know that there was OBD2 teg motors until someone told me the other day...is the guy right...96-00 are OBD2...and if so...can i still put the OBD1 and just change out the OBD2 parts...any info would really help..thanks in advance
This has probably been covered 100 times.
I think OBD1 blocks will not have knock sensor or CFK sensor. Other than that, they work the same. You can tap for a knock sensor and just use your old one and swap out the oil pumps for the CFK sensor (attached).
You're ok with the distributor and other wiring up on the head since you're keeping your OBD2 head.

if your goin to put a obd1 longblock in an obd2 car, first of all its illegal and will not pass emissions etc....
but if you insist on doing it with a longblock swap its fairly easy
take out your old motor transmission etc...
put old trans on new longblock along with your old distributor and injectors and alternator, after this put the old engine harness on and everything else will plug right back in and your ready to roll
