Default SRS Cable Reel Question (yes I searched, many times)

About 2 weeks ago, I replaced the tie rod boots on the steering rack. While the steering linkage was disconnected, the wheel got turned an unknown amount. I reassembled everything, and everything was cool. When I turned the wheel all the way to the left, I would get and awful squeak and rubbing sound, but i couldn't see anything rubbing, and it would only do it if I was making a U-turn or something. Other than that, everything was just fine

Fast forward to yesterday, my SRS light comes on. I try to reset the computer but the light stays on. After some searched on Honda-Tech, I come to realize I may have damaged my cable reel. However, most people who have damaged their cable reel, have lost their horn and cruise control function also. My horn and cruise are still working fine, it's just the SRS light on.

My question is could I have damaged my cable reel just enough to mess up the SRS function and everything else be fine? I would think if I streched it enough to break one wire, the others would fail also. Anyone have any insight into this? I would appreciate any assistance in finding the problem.

Mike

pretty sure your cable reel is ruined. i don't know why your horn still works. i have a working cable reel you can purchase if you feel the need. and i know it works because i have taken the necessary precautions to keep it from becoming uncentered. let me know if you want it.
