How can u secure subs to prevent theft
Well my stereo got stolen friday, and i want a new one, Im a little nervous about getting another, cuz i don't want it stolen. Is there any recomendations for securing the subs in the trunk to make it tough to get out/steal.
just get some really heavy subs that are hard to lift. At least if they want it that bad make em break their back to do it. Just get some stiff shocks for the rear

This is what you do. Take 2 inch dry walls, and ****** mount the bitch down. Then mount your subs. I'd love to see the look on someones face when it doesnt move.

To add to the post above: Before you put the subs in the box, screw the box down right through the bottom of the box and through the floor of the trunk. Then, use speed clips under the car so they can't pull the screws through the sheetmetal.. Or, use 3 inch bolts with lock washers and nuts under the car...
i dont know about some of you but, i secure my audio stuff pretty well, but not sooo well to where they'll **** up my car just trying to get the dame things. i guess when you have full insurance its easier to think this way i guess.
thanks guys I have full insurance, but no reciepts,so theyre trying to screw me over, they won't even cover the 30 cds that went missing, i miss the bass and need it back, I can afford a new system, but not if its gonna get ripped off
i like using some big thick L brackets and screw them down as mentioned before that way you don't have to take out your subs if you want to take your whole box out, just put the backets where they cant b seen
L brackets are good, but they're easy(er) to defeat.. When screwed down through the box, a thief is going to waste time trying to figure out how the box is held down and then how to defeat it... It's all about layering... But good point about mobility though...

it doesnt matter how good u secure your subs. if they cant take it out they'll just take the whole car so now they can take there time on taking out your subs.
do i screw it down to the spare tire cover thing, or directly to the car itself, if i do it to the removable peice, isnt it kind of pointless? So the best way is to screw it inside the box, so they can't see it. What about the amp, under the spare tire cover?
Oh i would rather the whole car go so i can get something for it atleast. The stereo is my only mod.

I've used security torx srews before, they aren't normal torx screws. Who would carry a set of these around? The key is to do something different then evryone else. Once it becomes the norm the thieves figure it out.
a friend's car got broken into and his radio was stolen. his hatch was open but subs still there. why? his box is 6 cubes external. with subs, thats over a hundred lbs!
bigger the box the better!

I know this is an old thread. Having lost a few stereo systems due to robberies, I've taken the approach of using only small subs I can hide and speakers that fit under stock covers. In my truck, I leave the stock stereo in place and then run it out to an amp so it just looks like a **** stocker. I like the idea of bolting it to something so heavy it jsut can't be taken easily.
