Default WARNING: NOOB QUESTIONS

ok.. these questions are so noob that i wouldn't know what to keyword when searching for these questions on this site.. sorry. "flame" me if u will. i shall get revenge in the future when i take your pink slip! ahem. anyway. here are my questions.. any help will be greatly appreciated.

1) I read somewhere on this site someone suggesting to someone else with a RS to get a B16 tranny to go with his B18 motor. What exactly is the difference in performance between different types of trannies and why is the B16 tranny preferred over the B18 tranny? or am i interpreting something wrong?

2) I have a stock 94 RS integ B18B1 motor. I want to go VTEC. If i get a VTEC head and all the necessary components along with it needed in order for the VTEC to work what ECU must I get? is there a way to just program the RS ECU i have now to make it work with the VTEC? if so would i have to get the ECU that belongs to the appropriate engine model the HEAD came off of?? please explain which ECU is needed and in detail why if u can please?

again, any help would be greatly appreciated. sorry, i'm a noob. one day i shall be leet. one day..

1) Different B-series trannys came with different gear ratios & final drives. Swapping a tranny is one way of getting 'better'(?) gearing.

2) Search for LS/VTEC or LS-VTEC. That's what everybody calls what you're doing. You'll need a GSR ECU & some wiring that your car is missing.

The B16 tranny has shorter gearing so you will go a bit quicker
