Where can I get a Japanese license plate?
Most Riceboy store carries them. They mix english letter like INT or CIV which doesn't exist on real Jp plates.
At least they do list a prefecture in Japan in japanese. I remember the one for integra (INT) said Nagano prefecture.

Japanese government polices them pretty tightly, so they are not easy to get...not even in Japan.
1. You can choose the number but only with certain limitations, unlike personalized plates.
2. you have to register a car to get one.

I live in California and want to be semi legal.. Should I just put the JDM one on the front, and leave my US one on the back or what?

i already got a fix it ticket for mine.. the cop was nice so it was fix it.. could have been a $75 fine or something for not having a plate, cause JDM plate dont mean **** here. Anyhow, it was a bitch for me to find one.. luckily i ran into a fellow ITR owner, and his friend had a real plate that he brough over from japan while he was there.. so i offered him a good price and got it.. any importer you call will tell you that they cant get you the plate because DMW or whatever they call it in JDM land takes all the registration tags before the car is sent to a junkyard.. or so i have been told.. HTH
i got my pair from an ebay seller thru special order. he got them from an abandoned car in a field somewhere in mie prefecture. it even has the correct displacement numbers too so i got really lucky

I have a real one and a fake one. The real one sits in my room and the fake one is on the front of my car. I dont care if that one get's stolen and I don't care if it is ricey. Haven't gotten a ticket yet.
It's really hard for someone in Japan to sell their plates for the amount we're willing to pay for it.
They'll get more money by returning the plates to the government rather than trying to make a profit off of it.

can someone post a pic of a real one up close?...i want to see the difference in script.

bottom right. these are us forces license plates though... close enough.
EDIT: sorry about that... photopoint took all my pics so this is the only site i could find with a pic... those are all various us forces license plates in japan. the one that we are talking about should be the bottom right one, which is the real thing.

Current plates look like the White plate with Green writing and an "E". The Kanji up top indicates a Tama area military plate. To be specific... E means exempt so that was from a car that was imported from outside of Japan. E plate cars can not be sold to Japanese citizens until the car has been in the country for 5 years. Yokota Air Force base is in the Tama area. Normal military plates have a "Y" while "K" series small cars have a yellow plate with black letters and an "A" designator. Normal Japanese plates have a Hiragana instead of an A/E/Y as the designator. Personalized plates are white with backlit lettering.
Plates that are not personalized have to be returned to DMV once a car is deregistered so it is difficukt to find plates. Selling Japanese plates carries a really stiff penalty also.
A cup of rice with fish head soup (prision food) isn't that appealing to me so if ya want a real Japanese plate you'll have to fly to Japan and swipe one yourself.

i ocassionally come across web sights with pics of people with cars with Japanese plates on....its funny because some of them are yellow which indicates that the car has displacement under 1000cc's. I also find it hilarious to see fake ones with the kanji all f'ed up like the ones that the black Evos' had in the movie "TAXI 2"...or when the plate are like 1, 8 or 9 series which usually indicates an oversized car or truck
...again..I ask what's the point? What are people trying to prove?

one question:
whats the point of having Japanese License plates on in the States? Isn't that pretty ricey?
