Default Ignition Wiring

I was told by someone that you can wire a USDM H23 wiring harness to work on a JDM H22 engine with internal ignition coil. I was told to just cut the connector off that would nornally connect to the external coil on the H23 and solder the black wire to the black and yellow wire and just tie the blue wire away. Is this true? Thanks for your help!!
