upgrading the GSR tranny
hey i have a GSR tranny with 20k miles on it. Im sick of this POS and its long gear ratios. Anyone have any opinions as to what you would do? Replace it? Get new gears? New final drive?
try to keep it cost effective.

I'm a bit sick of my GSR tranny as well. I would *really* like to upgrade to an ITR tranny. I just wished I would've bought an ITR complete swap in the first place, rather than a GSR swap.
Don't get me wrong...I still enjoy my GSR swap, but I really wish I would've spent the extra $$. Lighter flywheel, better clutch, LSD...what more could I ask for.

I have the internals from an EG6 that I am will to trade for LS internals! email me at drealgsr@hotmail.com...

you are driving a LS, MY MAN~
If the trans is in good condition, and all you want is shorter gearing you can get a jdm 4.7 final drive or an ATS final drive which is 4.9. I hate the longer gearing too in my trans, and it will feel worse when i get cams with a higher powerband and higer redline. I want a b16 trans but i have 15k on my trans and its in great condidtion. So i plan on getting the jdm itr final drive, which will put my gearing pretty close to a b16.
It traps oil vapors that go from the pcv valve to you intake manifold. It seems to fill up with a good amount of oil. its more for turbo cars but it cant hurt. Quite a few people on this board have the same setup i do. Peace
