H22 SWAP CRX, B SERIES TRANNY ADAPTER, QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!!!
Thought I would make a post about this, I am eager to put a H22 in my 90 crx hf. But I am hearing and seeing different things. I am really interested, especially in adapting the B series tranny to it. I am wondering if it will be too heavy for my daily driver, comute car. I heard HASPORT is going to come out with drop in kit? true or false? What is the latest news on HASPORT or whatever else co. doing the H22 swap in a 88-91 crx. I am not seeing much or any info on any search engine about the h22 crx swap. Mainly cuz not a lot of people do it. Like anything in life its possible if determined. So why isn't there a recognizable company making the whole kit everything you need for a drop in install? Can an aftermarket traction bar system for the CRX work with the h22 swap? Will weight be that much more instead of using a B series tranny to the H22 but a H22 tranny?
bottom line some Co. needs to make a drop in kit, everything you need, for the H22 in the 88-91 honda crx and also have the option of using a B series transmission with an adapter plate kit!!!!!
Anyone else feel the same?

ok, Hasport is in the works on a H-Series mount kit, but there's no set date on it's production.
As for a daily driver it's not the weight that you'll have to worry about... it's that the motor sits very low and from what i've seen with different custom mount applications the oil pan sits sometimes as low as 3.5" off the ground. You smash that thing and you're fucked. And the header sits even lower.
Engine height would be your main concern... the H22 doesn't weight much more than a b18c1. I think it's relatively close in fact.
People have been successfully making adaptor plates to put the b-series transmission onto an h-block but once again there's no production for this so you'd be doing everything yourself.
Another problem is the headers do not even come close to fitting past the crossmember... so you either have to hack at yours or fabricate a whole new one.
My belief is that if HASport was going to release a mount kit for the H22 they would also start making the adaptor plates because it's the only way the Hblock can go in. Hasport prides itself on being a 1 stop solution so they won't release a mount kit for a block to go into an engine bay without all the trimmings (prob. including axles, linkage, full mount kit, adaptor plate, and maybe some other things). This seems a long way off. If you want an H22 in your 88-91 civic/crx within the next 12 months... start signing up for some welding classes.
Anyone got the inside scoop on HASport and has a ETA on the H22 for 4th gens let us in. But my guess is no one does.

the word from the horses mouth! Hasport has not came out with a bolt in or weld in kit for the h22 in the 88-91 chasis. They should be doing so sometime early next year with the adapter kit possbily for the B series tranny, would cost in the area of $750 for the kit....
