Default oil pressure sensor

Is there anyway to test the oil pressure sensor? Mine seems to be hooked up ok but i got the oil light on. My oil pan is perfect with no dents and oil is flowing perfect through the engine. So can someone maybe tell me how to test the sensor or maybe some input of what else may be causing this? My car is a 92 Si with a JDM H22a. Thanks

Remove the sender and hook up an oil pressure guage. I'm not sure about the H series....but on the B series you should have at least 10psi@idle and at least 50psi at 3000rpm. If you have that oil pressure, replace the sender. If not then you have an actual oil pressure problem.

If the oil pressure switch is working properly, light should only come on when oil pressure is less than 4.3psi. Check actual oil pressure should be 10psi at idle and 50 psi at 3000rpm. Make sure the light is working correctly by disconnecting the connector at the switch and see if the light goes off. Then try grounding the connector and see if the light comes on. If everything checks out ok then replace the oil pressure switch.

the oil pressure switch is the one with the rubber boot on it near the filter, correct? If not maybe i'm looking in the wrong place.

if the oil light is on then you should maybe check your oil level. but i would still get an oil pressure gauge to see where the oil pressure is at all times.

Go to Autozone and get a new one for $15; pop it in and see if it still lights up. If it does, you have problems.

My oil level is fine. My engine was just swapped and i put maybe 2 miles on it so far. I havent brought the car home because it needs wetsanded yet, but i did check the oil level and its fine. So im thinking the pressure switch is toast. ANd if its only 15 bucks at autozone maybe ill just replace it anyway if testing it doesnt work. I did check my oil pan really carefully and it doesnt have any dents in it, but if the switch doesnt fix my problem i guess ill pull the pan and see whats up.
