H-T is mostly for 88+ Civics/CRXs. The best site for info on 84-87 Civics/CRXs is http://www.redpepperracing.com . Please read the FAQ before asking questions.
Unfortunately the 84-87 engines have one head bolt that doesn't line up with the 88+ heads. Your best bet is to do one of the following, which goes from easiest to hardest.
1) get another head just like yours, bolt it on, and go. To do it right you will need to make sure that your pistons, rods, and bearings weren't damaged by the valve collisions, and make sure that the block deck is flat.
2) get another engine just like yours from a junk yard/engine importer/ebay/friend etc, bolt it in, and go. They are pretty cheap and plentiful relative to other Honda engines since no one else wants them. Make sure that you are getting THE SAME engine, i.e. 1.3 8-valve cvcc, 1.5 8-valve cvcc, 1.5 12-valve cvcc, or 1.5 12-valve non-cvcc. Also avoid cali and high altitude engines for your location. As always, it is best if you can actually hear it run and check its condition before you buy it.
3) do a carb to mpfi swap by swapping in a fuel injected engine from an 84-87 Si. Power goes up to 91hp. This is a little bit of a pita because of all the wiring and fuel system stuff but almost everyone who has done it says it is worth it.
4) D16A1 swap from an 86-87 Integra. Power goes up to 113hp. Similar to the Si swap above but you will also want the Integra tranny/front suspension/axles/brakes/ecu and maybe crossmember and steering too. People usually try to find a complete running donor teg that was hit in the rear to do this swap. Otherwise you will be nickled and dimed to death by the junk yard looking for every little part that you need.
5) D16A1 swap from an 88-89 Interga. Power goes up to 118hp. Same as above but with a little more wiring for the electronic advance distributor.
6) 88+ d-series swap. Very rare but it has been done. Power goes up to about 125hp. Requires custom mounts, lots of wiring, lots of patience, and lots of time. It is generally not considered worth it for the small increase in power over the D16A1 swaps.
7) b-series swaps. Power goes up to as high as 200hp. Bring a barrel of cash and a truckload of gumption. Expensive and a ton of work, but the result will smoke almost anything on the road, assuming you do it right.
8) everything else. Anything goes with the only limit being how much money you have. Mostly uncharted territory.
Good luck wit dat, and if you lose interest in it you can always sell it to me for cheap if you aren't too far from Raleigh!

yes you can, it's possible. not sure what the cost of mounts would be. On http://www.redpepperracing.com i've seen a 1st gen CRX with a D16Z6 Vtec.
if you decide not to do this swap you could take the motor out of a 86-87 Integra and put it in, or just swap the teg head on to your current block( for head swap search for HYDRA on redpepper). good luck

swap a first gen teg motor in really easy, and cheap too!</TD></TR></TABLE>werd on that, but you also need the tranny, and then you need the axles, hubs, knuckles, front suspension with torsion bars and crossmember, brakes, and the ecu to make it run right. I *wish* it would just bolt to our tranny, but sadly, no. The good news is that you can usually find a running teg donor for dirt cheap.
