N1 Crank Pulley
I've been considering buying one of these, but I've read that it can throw off the balance and cause serious damage to the motor (even if I buy the authentic Honda pulley which claims to be fully balanced). Anyone here have expereince with this pulley?? I know it was originally made for the Type R in the enduro races, but don't race cars get rebuilt a few times a year? heh.. let me know.
from what I have read in my research, there is no for sure answer and that just tells me to not get one, until somebody out there knows for sure.
The performance increase to potential risk ratio tells me to not get one

I've been looking into one also, but.... Nobody has a clear anwser and the forums get all technical about harmonic balance and stuff. I have heard people using them without problems and dont think i read anywhere that it has hurt anyones engine.
Do remember Honda only uses these on their race cars(endurance) and then rebuilds the engine, so... Oh you said that

I used one on my B18B for quote sometime. I never started to experience any problems from it at all. I even used it while I turbocharged the engine, and was still problem free from it. Just my .02

Yeah...probably because everyone, their mother, grandmother, and 1st cousins are always looking for N1 exhaust threads.
As far as the crank pulley is concerned though, you do realize that it will eliminate Power steering and A.C, right? Just want to make sure. I had no problems with that as my car hardly saw driving time, let alone street driving. But for some, no power steering is akward and for some people it's a sin to remove A/C! lol
Anyways...choice is yours really, if you do get one, get the OEM honda pulley atleast.

ok, well.. then i guess i'll buy it. this site has it for $70: http://store.yahoo.com/yhst-14....html What exactly does a harmonic balancer look like anyway?
some dude's personal experience on the importance of having a harmonic balancer:

here's a pic of a harmonic balancer from a domestic. I don't imagine it is much different for the integra:

That looks like something for a small block chevy or Ford...
On our Integras, the 'Harmonic Balancer' is the crank pulley itself. Hence the tool that was made to hold the harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley.

one good thing about those UR pullies is that they let you keep A/C and P/S. Plus, they pulley weighs ounces compared to the 1 lb or so of the OEM honda pulley.
Of course, one downfall to the UR pulley is the fact that you can't use the Honda tool to remove the pulley, you have to rely solely on a good impact gun.

the n1 pulley has no harmonic balancer.. so.. thats bad? how can it be off balance and mess up the engine if its "fully balanced by honda" which i guess just means that its weight is portioned evenly..
this is so stupid... people SAY that these things can **** your motor up.. but i challenge you to find one thread on HT which someones motor was FUCKED because they installed an aftermarket pulley
Ive been running unorthodox pulley set on my b18b for about 15,000 miles now and have NOOOOO signs of problems what so ever with the bearings or crankshaft

well.. this isn't an accessory pulley & i don't know about threads, because i can't search for "n1" & i'm not looking for UR or AEM pulleys, but so far there are 2 guys who have good experience with this honda n1 pulley & no bad stories (yet).. so I'm going to get it.
