So you know, yea it is very illlegal to remove airbags. However, you can do it. There are detailed intructions all over the place on how to do it. Make sure your battery is disconnected, and unhook the two pin airbag plug under the column. Keep your extremedies away from the front of the bag just in case.

Either way, still something i wouldnt recommend. I know you can get an ITR steering wheel with the airbag and install it so it works correctly.

It is actually pretty easy to take the wheel off. The only thing that is a little diffcult is wiring up the horn. I have done about 6 of them so far. After the first time it is much easier. Just make sure you disconnect the battery and keep your face away from the wheel when taking out the air bag.

It might be helpful to quantify that with:

'depending on where you live' since where I live it's not illegal to remove it if you do it yourself, but it is illegal to do it for someone else, without getting a special form from the government. There are legitimate reasons for removing airbags. You may be too short and have to sit very close to the steering wheel, making it dangerous to have an airbag, or you may have a two seater that you need to use to transport a child in a car seat, and the vehicle doesn't have a way of disabling the passenger side airbag.

The last time I check it was partially ilegal to remove your srs steering. Partailly because some insurance companies may not cover your vehicle. If u sustain any injuries that they can relate to the steering wheel they will not pay damages. And some police depending where you live may give you an equipment violation ticket, which will require you to fix what ever is wrong.
I have a momo tuner and I have encounter police they do not give me any problems. The only thing the insurance company and my body shop wanted was for me to have a functioning horn.
To my knowledge that is the universal law reguarding the steering wheel.

FYI: Once you get the SRS unit out, the SRS light will come and stay on. Your call as to if you want to take the bulb out from behind the gauge.

I installed a MOMO steering wheel in my car. It's going to take you some time.

Be carefull buddy.
