it'd work better with more stuff on your car (i.e. cam gears,FPR, cams)

I've heard it is smart to get one if you have bolt-ons like intake, header, and exhaust. Is this true?

After I get a header and cat, I think the next thing I'll get will be the VAFC, or maybe an exhaust, but probably the VAFC.

VAFC is great, but i would spend the money and go OBD 1 before i got a VAFC, OBD 1 really makes your mods work for you, its great

Get it if you are planning to go dyno tune it. If not, save your money!!

OK...
So use it, if I have mods (headers, CAI, fpr, fuel rail, hiflow cat, maybe cam gears) but it would be better used if I have OBD1? second part or is it 3rd... so with the mods listed, the car will be fast but will the V-AFC make it faster( tuned right) while rolling? and what does OBD1 do with all the mods? thats the part I have no idea about

on more thing, if I use the stock OBD2 with the mods and V-AFC what is the diff if i used OBD1 (time wise/ performance)?

THANK YOU FOR THE ANSWERS!!!

Just for kicks, here's my dyno plot with no mods and a V-AFC.
I asked that they tune it more for mid range. -not bad for 90% humidity.

On the advice of a trusted tuner, I bought a V-AFC as soon as I had a CAI + header. I have the plot from that stage somewhere, but don't think we did a run without at least a street tune.

Rob,

By going from OBDII to OBDI your going to cut down on a few of the emissions checks/devices etc. that your OBDII car has to go through every time you drive it. For example, I believe the amount of gas being injected into the combustion chamber is going to be different than in an OBDII car. I don't think the car would retard as much to make up for the addes smog devices and what not. So I feel it's safe to say that the car is going to breathe much better, making your Intake, Exhaust....etc. work much better for you since those are higher flowing parts anyways.

Aloha,
Brandon
