Was looking into buying a b18c/b18c5 swap for the car,
1st. whats the reliability factor with the vtec engines in general, have an ls engine
in the rex, and it has been very reliable, can i expect the same from the ITR,
2nd, is there anywhere you can go and physically pick your swap, look at the engine, before u purchase it,
The reason i ask that is cause, there are certain things u can look at when buying an engine, do u guys think by just asking these companies, if they could pull the transmission from the engine, and checking flywheel and clutch u could tell what kind of condition an engine may be in, cause if the flywheel's all burnt the engine's probably been abused, or how do u guys go about it, luck of the draw, or do u guys, check things like this, spark plug condition, take oil filter apart,
Sorry i just dont really know what i may be getting into, and i'd hate to get ripped off, with a bad motor, any help wpuld be greatly appreciated, thanks lads.

 

1.... its just as reliable as any other honda engine

2..... alot of people in here dont buy swaps for their cars...... but just cus an engine has been beat on doesnt mean its bad

actually i have everything but the actual ITR engine in my CRX, i got the suspension swap with the 5 lug hubs, cars painted Ebony Ivory Pearl white from the RSX, i got the Red Recaro's from the ITR, GSR cluster, but no Vtec yet, so easy the W@@T W@@T, that's what my car would do as i fly by u with the B18 LS engine, tough guy, it will be an official R, by spring next year,

haha "tough guy"...... and no it wont be a type R next spring it will just be a 5lug rex with R power

edit: you even threw in "official" like honda is gonna give you your own badge number and everything to have a one off crx type R

 

This should be moved to the Hybrid forum.

 

you may run with a stock aRR in your crx, but...

1. It's still a crx, no mater how many times you dream of it being an itr.

2. It will never be an itr,... did I say that already?

3. Most aRR's aren't stock, so your asking to get stomped on by a modded aRR.

4. Get the Hell out of the ITR forum!

This guy come in here and asks for help, being all worried about not getting ripped off and such. Then he go off on how he has a swapped CRX, painted RSX black, and then he goes off an starts saying how he already smokes type R's... Ummm, you shouldn't really be so cocky when you are asking for help, because now I won't feel so bad if you got a motor with a hole in the block....
