Failed Emmisions ...got questions
Today was inspection time.. i passed safety but the emissions was terrible..the readings i failed were:
15 MPH (2100rpm) 25 MPH (2411rpm)
Limit Reading Limit Reading
HC ppm 89 219 86 132
C0% 0.50 1.08 .48 .62
NO ppm 725 1027 656 934
mods inlcude AEM CAI, JDM 4-1 , Carsound cat, thermal stealth exaust, vafc, and slightly advanced timing.
Would backing off timing, and leaning it out work? How much leaning should i do?
EDIT, spacing is way off from what i intended...sorry, can a mod fix it?

Looks to me like either the car was not fully warm or you gots a dead kitty. (educated guess).
Your on the rich side which normally lowers your NOx readings...cooler combustion temps. Becareful, if you lean out too much then your NOx readings will skyrocket especially with advanced timing.
What were your O2 levels? Really low i would say.

dont lean it brian, richen if anything. i had it at plus 10% from 0-4000 to pass emissions. if my car passed with that yours should too

Im all confused about what to do with the fuel. Were your readings close to mine brian? If so ill go ahead and richen it up..but i thought that increases HC? I thought your supposed to lean out the fuel to get better readings.
I always have my IRT tuned before I go for inspection. Sparkplugs, rotor and cap, and getting the valves set. You might give it a try becxause mine didn't pass once and after the tune up it passed with ease.
well, my NOx reading was ~1200ppm, with the limit at what, ~600 right? high Nox = high combustion chamber temp = very lean condition. richened the mixture, reading went from ~1200ppm down to 190ppm, and all of the levels in the other parameters of the sniff test went down as well. we were afraid HC and CO might have gone up but they didnt, to my pleasant surprise. you have one free retest Brian, it doesnt hurt to try this, it saved my ***
