Aftermarket seat woes
Well, being tall almost always has its advantages. This no longer applies when it comes to cars, especially sport compacts. I'm fully capable of driving the car on the street where heel/toe downshifting is not required. The minute I put my seat in the agressive driving position and attempt to heel/toe, I'm immdiately reminded that my 6'3" frame is too tall for the car because the steering wheel always ends up finding its way into my crotch.
After reading pages and pages of older posts on the topic of aftermarket buckets and their mounting hardware, I've come to a few conclusions.
These conclusions were made with the Sparco Pro 2000 seat in mind and with the hopes of actually getting the seat to sit far lower than the stock one and maybe even slide back further as well.
1) The Sparco mounting base is absolute junk
2) Wedge Engineering makes quality replacement base mounts.
2b) Mounting the seat on the Wedge base mount and using Sparco rails and sliders leaves the seat sitting higher than stock.
3) Vision makes a "one-touch" and "superlow" slider and rail but I'm unsure if they can be mounted on the seat I chose or of where I can purchase these at.
My ultimate goal is to obtain a quality base mount with a set of rails/sliders that will effectively lower the seat and allow me to start tracking my car without trouble. Safety is the #1 factor in this situation and since I'm not mechanically inclined, I would rather not do any of my own custom work and drilling.
So, I guess my question is, what would be the best combination of a base mount and rails/sliders to put on the Sparco Pro 2000 that will lower the seat as much as possible and allow me a bolt-in setup rather than have to do any drilling.
As always, any help is greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to find a way to fit in the car before I end up selling it because I'm just too tall.

George, one option you can do is to remove the rear-bottom cushion from your Pro2000, not the most comfortable option but you'll pick up a few mms there. I've tried BRIDE rails and I can tell you that when used in combination with my Recaro SPG, it lowered my seating position by approximately ~14mm.
On a side note, I have been searching for a set of Vision super-low side mount sliders for some time now with no luck, if anyone knows who sells these please let me (us) know.

i would say make your own brackets....... i made some for my old civic using a forza as a seat and it felt like i was on the floor....... im 6'3" and i had to ride with the steering wheel all the way down and it was kinda hard to see over the guage cluster for anyone shorter than 6'......... my head was a good 4" or so from the roof and it had a sunroof
Thanks for the responses so far guys.
cjames235: As stated in my post, I would rather not get myself involved with any drilling or fabrication work.
Anyone else have experience with either Wedge or Vision and how either can be used with sparco rails/sliders to allow for a much lower seight height?

Jamie's (Doctor Cortez) work IS a bolt-in design using the stock sliders. Search in the archives for a post by him. As for low...yeah, it's almost on the ground. I'm tall as well (6' 2") and had the same problem. Now I have plenty of headroom in the Pro2000s.
In addition to that, if you decide to go with Wedge mounts, I have a pair for DC2s made to fit Pro2000s for sale.

I am 6'4" and I feel like this with my new integra. I had Recaro's and a custom bracket on my old hybrid hatch and it gave me plenty more head room to roof clearance.
I have no idea what brand the rails were but it came with the seat when I purchased it new.

First off, thanks to sscguy for providing me with an extensive write-up on his setup.
I understand Doctor Cortez's setup utilizes the stock rails/sliders, possibly with a bit of modification. I wonder though if even more room could be had by using an aftermarket setup from Taitec for example. I know they make mounting hardware for the NSX and S2k, but I'm unsure if they make anything for the integra. Since I know using a Wedge base with stock rails/sliders leaves the seat higher than stock, I'm still looking for other options.
Just in case anyone was wondering why I need to drop the seat so much, here is a pic comparing normal people to Shrek-like individuals like myself.
Take a wild guess as to which person is me.......

i had wedge engineering brackets and rails for my srds on my ek. they sucked, they didn't even mount the seat in the the middle, the seat was mounted maybe1-2 inches too far outboard. they sat lower than stock though.

Haha. You're making me sound like a circus attraction, which isn't a bad thing since I'd be able to charge people to look at me. Profits generated could go towards mods.
Ok, back on topic. I see that the mugen seat and corresponding mounting hardware seems to come up quite a bit. I'd just like to say in advance that I do not care how much the setup costs me, as long as I'd be able to keep the car.
Since I already had the chance to sit in the mugen, and since I don't fit in it, i'm wondering if it would be possible to attach the sparco pro 2000 to the mugen mounting hardware. :shurgs:
This is getting complicated. Does the mugen site list anywhere the dimensions of the entire seat like the sparco site does. I tried looking but couldn't find anything.
