Easiest way is to pay someone to do it.

There is a thread in the archives by user BauleyCivic titled DIY How to: Take off transmission and inspect Input Shaft Bearing with 23 steps to remove the thing. I dunno why I can't find it today but it should be there

pull the whole motor is easiest. three of the 4 mounts are on the tranny, which means the motor will be dangling around in there. there is very little room between the frame rails to seperate tranny without having engine hang way down. just pull it. when on the hoist, let tranny side dip lower and remove left transmission mount completely or it will be a tighter squeeze.

for shift linkage, push back rubber boot, pop off half circle steel clip. there will be a vertical crush dowel going through the joint, pop it out with a flat ended punch and yank shift rod off.

AHHHH, thats what sounded the easyest, BUT I dont have a Cherry picker, and I kinda dont wana get one. I didnt need one to do the trans swap on the talon, but im sure it would have been a billion times easyer. That was part of my problem on the talon, the frame rail.

I'll say leave the motor in, leave the shift linkage on, remove battery tray, take off the axles, disconnect the clutch and speedo, unbolt it and catch.

No sense of adventure...

Obviously, there are a couple things missing there, but you get the idea.
