Emissions Testing in MD
Ok, here's the deal. I need to go through emissions testing. I'm running 440 injectors controlled by the SAFCII on the f23a1 OBDII motor, with a cat. I get 2 codes thrown which is expected running the hack (running too rich and fuel air metering). I thought that I could pass emissions testing by clearing the codes and going down to the station, but I was told to come back because there weren't any readiness codes yet. I was told to drive 300 miles or so and come back. I figured that I could baby it and not have any codes thrown and pass, but babying it isn't working, got a code for "running too rich" thrown.
I need some tips to pass testing, please help! Please post, or PM with ideas.
Thanks

The codes are going to keep coming up unless u fix why they are coming up... ie dont run the hack. There are plenty of shady emission stations you could go to they would pass it though. I ran the hack for awhile but i was OBDI, im not sure about all the problems with running it with OBDII but maybe converting it would get rid of the codes.
You could move to St. Mary's County... they have no emissions

Yup, the hack on OBD2 is going to be a very unhappy thing when it comes to a legit inspection.
You can always injector swap, set the AFC to 0, and drive 300 miles without boost.

I know the codes are going to keep comming, the hack is temporary until the EMS comes. When I do switch to the EMS, I will still have this problems since I'm OBDII, the EMS will not respond to the OBDII port, thus I fail/ come back.

How easy would it be to swap the stock injectors back in? I have RC injectors currently now with the clips wired in.

i live in MD too, what county you in? well anyways, injector swap is not that hard, done it a couple times, go buy OBD1 injectors from a junkyard(because you said you had the rc's wired up) and first, relieve fuel pressure, un bolt fuel rail, pull off, fuel will come out all over the place, catch with rag, take out old injectors, put in new, put fuel rail back on, tight up banjo bolt on fuel filter to regain/retain fuel pressure, and your good to go.

I still have my stock injectors, so will I need to modify any wiring for them? I'm going to PM you a few more things.

Low Z injectors, just use OBD0 units.
High Z injectors, just use OBD1's with the plastic center tang snipped out.

Still learning, but is it possible to use my stock injectors? OBDII

I thought about that. But does that work, cause eventually ur tags need to be renewed and I believe they will not do it if it hasen't passed emissions?

how do they do emission now in md? I remember my friends telling me they would just lower their car so low that they wouldn't be able to put the car up on the lifts they use for testing so they would be waved. They didn't have cel's on so i donno if they still had to get the car hooked up to the scan tool.
Would converting to OBDI help u out? or would that just be illegal in itself since the emissions devices back then were not as strict.

For OBDII cars, all they do is hook up the computer to the OBDII diag port and check for any codes.
For OBD0 & OBDI, they place the cars on the dyno with the tailpipe test.
Since my car is OBDII by nature, if I converted to OBDI I would still fail.

I would just do what he suggested then.

If you have coilovers, drop your car so it is barely drivable. Come to the Annapolis Emissions station and they will give you a waiver since you can't get on the dyno. You don't even have to pay the fee. It worked on my last three cars.

I don't have to get on the dyno since I'm OBDII. But do ya'll think that if I keep going back with OBDII readiness codes not there, the'yll just let me through?

I am in MD, i just dump my car all the way to the ground(coilovers)... everytime they can't put it on the rollers so they just tell me to goto the office. Since i didnt get on the equipment they dont even charge me the $14. They sign me off and send me on my way.

i am trying to think if they came after i got my first notice, but before i asked for my first extension. I want to say i already had an extension before i got my new tags, but i may be wrong. Just write them an email and ask if you will still get sticekrs.
