Limited slip differential. It locks the wheels when you are going straight but allows the outer wheel to turn faster than the inside wheel when turning. It's only needed when you put down a bunch of power.

thats not true, anytime you are looking for better traction a LSD would help greatly. stock or heavily modded a LSD is definatley a worthwhile upgrade.

here this should help

LSD1 ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ls-d)
n.

A crystalline compound, C20H25N3O, derived from lysergic acid and used as a powerful hallucinogenic drug. Also called acid. What civictildeath and all of the 04 members use when posting.

As Kamin said, a limited slip diff is beneficial to any application, regardless of power levels. I could have certainly used one at the track this weekend in my 108hp terror

The effects of LSD can be felt/used frequently during any kind of driving. At performance driving events such as autocrosses and track days though, the difference is like night and day - they help enormously. Not to mention they're great for the snow too

If you have never opened a transmission before, I would not recommend such a task for the do-it-yourselfer. It's not easy, and you will need many tools and a lot of free time.

This is one of the "If you've got to ask, you probally can't do it" situations.

You will have to take apart the transmission to install it.
