Default JRSC sohc hatch is on the road!

edit: pics on page 2
-----------------------------

Hi,
Just finished my jrsc setup on my d15b vtec cx hatch.
The car has a gutted rear interior, lightweight battery, and lotsa stuff pulled
from the engine bay(no windshieldwashers, a/c, etc), i do have 2 strut bars tho.

Anyhoo,
I dont know why people speak badly about the JRSC so often,
this thing is pretty damn cool. It sounds amazing, engine is superdeep and smooth,
and the JRSC only starts to whine once you really get on it, then its like a whistle through the engine.

I'd say it's around 30hp(more or less) over what it was at before,
all the holes in the powerband(low end, and after 7500, partial throttle, etc) are gone, and it just keeps pulling till I hit my 8k fuel cut ( can tell now it has even more power though). Boost in instantaneous.

Right now I'm running the stock crank, it makes around 6psi,
shortram intake, custom exhaust with carsound cat.

I raced my friend who has a VR6gti with cams, intake, exhaust, chip.
My car pulled just slightly over his, but I cant launch it right yet.

Anyways i'll have pics in the next couple days.

Congrats!

Get some sticky tires and that should help you with the launch.

I have wondered why I heard so many bad things about the JRSC, it seems to be great for DD duty based on logic. I would be interested to see a SOHC/JRSC dyno. Please do post pics, and a more thourogh review once it's working correctly.

OT:

I am gathering my UD equipment at the moment I've already got extra blank 29C's, resistors, etc. Nokia cable en route. I'm pricing used laptops, and I am hoping to get my Moates burner for xmas. Then in Jan/Feb I intend to pick up a Greddy kit + spare motor + WB

Hey Craig,

Was your JRSC stock, or modded internally?

JRSC was stock, used the 8lb blower pulley and the CRV crank pulley.

I guess so, Jackson/Moss sold it to me. Ran it for 3 years with no problems.

Thats the exact combination I'm running right now for pullies. Here's hoping for some high dyno numbers when the time comes.

Thanks

I'd love to go, but the 16 hour drive is a bit much for me.

I'm gonna have some JRSC goodness here in a few... Car is still mostly stock, but have almost all the pieces together already.

-92 Si, stock D16Z6 (got it)
-heavily ported Z6 head (got it, not on car yet)
-450cc DSM injectors, otherwise stock fuel system (got em)
-Uberdata tuned
-JRSC (got it, not on car yet)
-D16A6 3.4" blower pulley (got it, on JRSC currently)
-98 Y8 crank pulley (got it, not on car yet)
-DC 4-2-1 ceramic header (on car, trading out for a 4-1 2.5" collector)
-Thermal 2.25" catback w/ test pipe (on car)
-LS rods, machined to fit (got em)
-98-01 GX PDN pistons (need em)
-stock headgasket (got it)
-15" Rota Group Ns (got em) with 205/50/R15 Azenis (need em)
-Koni Yellows/Eibach Prokit (got em, waiting till after I fix driveway to put on car )
-ES Poly bushing kit (got it, need to install)

Hoping to have a 10.5-10.8:1 motor (chamber work on head to decrease CR) and get 8-10psi from the blower. Should be hella fun for a street car. Probably eventually get a cam too...

Hope to have it together 100% by the end of the year.

sounds cool, do you get more boost from a y8 crank on a z6?

supposedly, yes. I'm going to measure diameters + figure out how much if any. I left the Y8 pulley at a friend's house, and I need to get it back from him before I can measure + confirm. I have AC+power steering that still work, so I can't run a CRX HF, 1G CRX pulley or any other monstrosity that have huge alternator drive lobes Having power everything (92 Si) sucks somtimes...
