23 or 26 spline cv shaft?

is there a way to tell if my 88 civic has a 23 or 26 spline outboard cv joint without taking the old shaft off? it is a 4 speed manual hatchback.

if it is a 4 speed - no passenger side mirror - no tach - it is STD model which has the smaller hubs and axles
